In the afternoon of July 20, 2000, Falun Gong practitioners held a Falun Dafa press conference in Hilton Hotel in Washington DC, in commemoration of the persecution by Chinese government since July 20, 1999. Mr. Mark Palmer, the vice-chairman of Freedom House and Mr. T Kumar, Amnesty International gave their speeches in the press Conference.

More than 200 hundred practitioners gathered peacefully at the Chinese Embassy in Canberra (the Capital of Australia). There was a substantial turn out of the practitioners that attended ranged from a few days old to over 70 years old. The day was cold and very windy, but sunny most of the time.

UK (BBC) - A member of the banned Falun Gong sect choked to death in police custody in China after officers tried to force feed her during a hunger strike, human rights activists say. Reports said primary school teacher An Xiukun, 50, was refusing food at a detention centre in the northern province of Hebei to protest against her feet being bound with iron shackles.
