The April 25th incident was widely reported by western media. 10,000 Falun Dafa practitioners gathered in Beijing on that day of last year, outside the central government compound, to present their peaceful request for a legal and non-hostile environment to practice their spiritual beliefs. Q: Why did Falun Gong practitioners gather in front Zhong-Nan-Hai in Beijing on April 25, 1999?
A:
1. In Tianjin (a city near Beijing), on April 22/23, police arbitrarily arrested more than 40 and beat many Falun Dafa practitioners. Practitioners' appeal to local government of Tianjin for the release of these practitioners were ignored.
On April 25, 1999, tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners came to the Appeal Office near Zhongnanhai to appeal. They were peacefully waiting to tell the country' leaders Falun Gong' real story and the recent police' detaining and beating the practitioners in Tianjin.
