On the anniversary of the Chinese government's official suppression of Falun Gong, the practitioners in Houston gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate General to carry out a peaceful petition. They called upon the Chinese government to stop the persecution, release the arrested Falun Dafa practitioners, stop all the suppressive and slanderous activities towards Falun Gong, show respect for the Constitution and the will of the people, and resolve this issue peacefully through direct dialogues.

Falun Gong members staged protests in Hong Kong and Beijing yesterday on the first anniversary of the official outlawing of the spiritual movement. In Tiananmen Square, police arrested more than 90 people as authorities warned that "strong political forces" were manipulating the group. Most demonstrated individually or in small groups - unfurling small banners, sitting in the lotus position or meditating.
