(Clearwisdom.net) In the past, I was not involved in clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa to the government, as I held the prejudice that in the human society, among the people who want to be government officials, there are quite a large number of them whose morality isn't very lofty. This task of clarifying the true situation, though, is offering salvation to living beings without condition or regard to their jobs or status in the society. Whenever I had heard that other practitioners wanted to clarify the truth to the government, I held the notion that those practitioners had not yet relinquished their mentality of differentiating people into different ranks due to some attachment they had.
Through Fa study I came to understand that my above thoughts were not right. People elect their own governments in democratic countries, so the governments represent the people. A government will have lost its role of upholding justice and fairness if it fails to understand that the existence of Falun Dafa has brought well being to mankind. When such a government fails to condemn Chinese leader Jiang and his criminal political group for their suppression of people who practice Falun Gong, and even bends to pressure from the Chinese dictator thus helping the evil to commit crimes, this government needs to be informed. People elect government officials in hopes of representing the people, to express people's wishes and aspirations. This is why we call these government officials "the representatives of the will of the people." What will be the fate of government officials if they cannot positively represent their people? How about the people who have elected them? That is why I think clarifying the truth to government officials is very important. At that time, though, I thought that the task of clarifying the truth to government officials belonged to other practitioners. Putting it simply, I then believed that the task could only be done by the few practitioners who had been cultivating themselves very well or had some special knowledge or skill.
With the progress of the Fa-rectification I have increasingly realized that a small number of Dafa practitioners cannot possibly cover all the gigantic government branches and the numerous government groups and employees. Becoming aware of this point, I immediately plunged myself into this work. Only then had I realized that there was so much work that has not yet been done, and this work is extremely urgent. Together with other practitioners, I have quickly learned quite a number of ways for accomplishing tasks and gained much wisdom in doing Fa clarification work. Even more important is that I have assimilated my broadened heart into the even greater cultivation environment, in which the requirements for us also accordingly gets higher.
Only then did I realize that I had always judged things using my human notions. I even mechanically applied my human notion of ranking people to the work of clarifying the truth. Teacher has told us in Lecture One of Zhuan Falun: "To tell you the truth, the entire cultivation process for a practitioner is one of constantly giving up human attachments." I searched within myself and found that I had a big attachment, namely, when something came up, I would always first think about how I viewed the issue. Isn't it the case that this mode of thinking has already limited myself within my own "thoughts," which are very likely the results of the thinking process relying upon old human notions? Teacher told us in "Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A.," "Maybe as you study the Fa the issues you've been thinking about will be resolved, since behind every word are Buddhas, Daos and Gods. How could they not know exactly what you want to resolve and what you're anxious to get done at that time? Then how could they not tell you? But there's one thing: you must achieve the state of studying the Fa without any pursuit. You understood this a long time ago--you can't read the Fa with an attachment to solving your problems. Just read calmly, and the effect is sure to be excellent." When we have let go of our attachments, the Fa will manifest itself for us. When I emphasize my human thoughts, I have, in fact, personally set up a barrier between the Fa and myself, which will slow down the pace of assimilating myself to Dafa. I started to use a pure and clean mind, instead of my human way of thinking, to observe what has occurred. I no longer emphasize my "thoughts."
Occasionally I separated Fa study and cultivation from the work of clarifying the truth, and it seemed that Fa study and cultivation were completely different from doing Fa-rectification work. In fact, "Fa study, cultivation, and participation in Fa-rectification" are integrated and in my opinion constitute our present way of cultivation. Presently, I sometimes feel very busy, but I still feel that I am far away from what is required of us during the process of Fa-rectification. Much work should be done but has not been done well; there is still work that I have not even started to do. Teacher told us that "our mission is to assist Teacher in Fa rectification," which could mean if we considered our work to be done from our own perspectives, we would relax the requirements for ourselves and would end up accomplishing nothing. We should learn to always view our work according to the requirements of Fa rectification.
We are still far away from the requirements that we should meet. Making solid progress in cultivation reflects in our inward search, maintaining our everlasting vitality, which comes from our cultivation in Dafa. Our minds should leave no room for our own interests; instead, we should gradually fill them up with the Fa principles that are manifest after our minds become pure and clear.
