(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Quandi, 66, a practitioner from Xi'an Road in the Hongkou District of Shanghai, has been arrested and imprisoned around eight times over the past eleven years. She was arrested at home by the district 610 Office on September 1, 2007 and sentenced to a three-year prison term. She was detained in the No. 5 and No 3 Divisions of Shanghai Women's Prison. Despite her advanced age, Ms. Wang is still detained.
She refuses to renounce Falun Gong. Therefore, she has been denied her freedom. They muffle her by putting a towel in her mouth and force her to wear a prison uniform. They torture her by binding her with a leather belt, with one hand behind her back and the other in the front, around the clock. This is extremely painful and her arms became numb in the process, as the blood cannot circulate in her hands and arms. Her arms stiffened and are atrophying.
The guards have refused to allow her family to visit her in person because she refuses to wear a prison uniform. Her family can only talk to her over a phone when they come to see her. In addition, they are not allowed to bring her any food.
Two other practitioners, Ms. Bo Gendi and Ms. You Xiuyun, were also confined in Shanghai Women's Prison. The prison guards tied Ms. Bo's hands and feet and hung her up for refusing to wear a prison uniform. They also ordered inmates to throw rats into the confinement cell.
Since prison regulations limit the time an inmate can be confined in such a cell to no more than 15 days, the guards put practitioners into what they call a "small cell," so they can hold them there indefinitely, even though the conditions are nearly identical.
Prison guards come up with all kinds of torture methods that are meant to force practitioners into submission. Shanghai Women's Prison is no exception when it comes to torturing practitioners.
