Mr. Feng Xingji was born in Baiyin City, Gansu Province, and graduated from the Department of Industrial Materials, Central South University. He was employed at Sanyi Heavy Industrial Material Research Institute beginning in March 2008. His supervisor was impressed by his professional abilities and commented that Feng's skill level was equivalent to that of a master's graduate.
Lu Xiaojun and several members of the Pudong 610 Office went to the Institute on June 29, 2011, and told Feng's supervisor to send him to the office so that they could ask him some questions. When Mr. Feng arrived, they arrested him because he had made banners saying "Falun Dafa Is Good."
Mr. Feng was tried in Pudong Court on November 22, 2011. Judge Shi Yaohui refused to allow Mr. Feng's lawyer to enter a not-guilty plea on his client's behalf and didn't let him defend Ms. Liu Juan, Mr. Feng's wife. When Ms. Liu insisted on her rights based on the Constitution, the judge ordered two bailiffs to remove her from the courtroom.
On November 30, 2011, Mr. Feng was sentenced to four years in prison and transferred to Section 10, Tilanqiao Prison, on February 21, 2012.
In prison, Warden Ge Zunyang forced Mr. Feng to watch videos defaming Falun Gong. Because Feng refused, Ge tortured him physically and mentally. He made Mr. Feng sit still on a small stool for 16 hours every day for 40 days. Mr. Feng was not allowed to communicate with anyone. If he made the slightest movement, someone would beat him. Mr. Feng was beaten severely three or four times during those 40 days.
Ge instructed inmate Lu Jingen to beat and punch Mr. Feng without worrying about the consequences. This situation lasted for over three months.
Initially, Mr. Feng's family was not allowed to visit him. His wife then appealed to the Prison Management Bureau and received permission for family visitation.
Mr. Feng has continued to appeal. The prison has confined him for about two months to try to force him to give up Falun Gong. His family has been prevented from visiting him for three months. His family has called the prison, but the head of the 10th ward has ignored them.
Mr. Feng's appeal letter was delivered to the Shanghai Supreme Court. The judge who handled his case caused his attorney a great deal of trouble. When the attorney presented the relevant clauses in criminal law, the judge knew he was in the wrong but still refused Mr. Feng's appeal. According to an insider, the court was notified to refuse to accept Falun Gong cases.
Mr. Feng has been forced to participate in forced labor in the prison. Many letters from his family to him have been withheld without a valid reason.
