(Minghui.org) Ms. Qi Fengmin, a forty-five-year-old farmer from Keshan County, Heilongjiang Province, was thrown into prison for practicing Falun Gong in 2008. She was released in July 2012, but arrested again on April 9, 2013. Ms. Qi is currently detained at the Tongyu County Detention Center, and is facing another trial.
Ms. Qi gave a man a copy of a Shen Yun DVD around 9 a.m. on April 9, 2013. The man didn't accept it and reported her. Lu Jizhou, deputy head of the Guangming Police Station, political head Yu Hongli and officer Hao Yanhui took Ms. Qi to the police station.
Later, officers searched Ms. Qi's home and failed to find any “evidence” as they expected, but they still threw her into Baicheng City Detention Center and notified her daughter that Ms. Qi would be detained for fifteen days. She was transferred to Tongyu County Detention Center on the seventh day. When her family members asked for details, Lu Jizhou, deputy head of Guangming Police Station, said, “Qi Fengmin has been convicted before. She was very stubborn in prison (meaning she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong). She is not cooperative. We need to sentence her to prison again.”
Fifteen days later, Taobei District Procuratorate notified Ms. Qi's family members to go to the Procuratorate. Procuratorate authorities asked her family members where Ms. Qi got the DVD from, what health problems she had, and attempted to make her relatives say she had a mental problem. They finally made Ms. Qi's family sign a deposition.
Guangming Police Station officers notified her family that Ms. Qi had been officially arrested and asked them if they planned to hire an attorney. Her family told Lu Jizhou that they would.
Ms. Qi was reading Falun Gong books at home on July 4, 2007, when local police arrested her and took her to Qiqihar First Detention Center. She was sentenced to five years in prison and was transferred to Harbin Women's Prison around March 1, 2009. She was released in July 2012.
The Communist regime's intense persecution of Falun Gong caused Ms. Qi's husband to divorce her. Since 2007, she has had to raise two young daughters by herself. They don't own a house. All their income is from Ms. Qi's odd jobs. Her most recent arrest has made their difficult lives even harder.
Please help Ms. Qi obtain justice and freedom.
