(Minghui.org) The persecution of Falun Gong intensified in Xiong County recently when officers from the Baoding City Police Department broke into the homes of several Falun Gong practitioners and individuals who had been associated with practitioners. The invasion took place at around 6 a.m. on December 17, 2013.
Mr. Bai Yun and His Neighbors Arrested
Mr. Bai Yun, a practitioner in his 70s, had been monitored and followed by the police for more than ten days before the arrest. The police had installed a surveillance camera at the entrance of his home. Plainclothes police had also been seen hiding behind Mr. Bai's house late at night.
When the police arrested Mr. Bai, they confiscated 900 yuan from his jacket pocket. Then they ransacked the homes of two of Mr. Bai's neighbors. One of the couples were taken into custody and released the next day.
Mr. Han Honzhi Escapes Arrest, His Wife Taken Hostage
The police broke into the home of Mr. Han Hongzhi planning to arrest him, but he was not at home, so they arrested his wife, Ms. Bai Ailou. They detained her in the Baoding City Detention Center. The police also confiscated Mr. Han's car. He fled to avoid arrest.
Ms. Bai Ailou is still detained in the Baoding City Detention Center. Deputy director Su Shiliang claimed that the police would release her only if her husband turns himself in. Su also claimed that the family would be rewarded if they provided the police with information on other Falun Gong practitioners.
Due to the persecution, this couple is unable to care for their two young children, and there is no one to run their family business.
Arrested for Associating with Falun Gong Practitioners
Mr. Jin Genyuan, a businessman from Donghuai Village, was arrested because he did business with Falun Gong practitioners, including the printing of decorative poetry hangings that promoted Falun Gong and traditional Chinese culture. He is currently detained in the Xiong County Detention Center. The poetry hangings, worth more than 20,000 yuan all together, were confiscated by the police.
A couple from Nanxinli Village were arrested because they helped practitioners hide some printed informational materials. Their home was ransacked and the police extorted 20,000 yuan from them.
