(Minghui.org) Wide-scale arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in Fujian Province are another example that the persecution is ongoing. Around 12 practitioners have been illegally arrested since February 21, 2014. The practitioners are being held at various detention centers.
Another three practitioners from Xiamen were tried, but no verdict has been reached. The second trial is scheduled on March 10.
Ms. Yang Shifen Arrested for Talking about Falun Gong in Public
Ms. Yang has been consistently harassed and government personnel arrested one of her daughters. Her home was also ransacked. She was recently arrested on the morning of February 23, 2014, for talking about the persecution of Falun Gong in public. She was sent to the Jiulongshan Detention Center in Shishi.
Several Hubin Police Station officers went to Ms. Yang's home in the early afternoon of that same day. Ms. Yang's husband is illiterate and the officers claimed that Ms. Yang had asked them to go there. They started to search their home without showing identification. The family's personal belongings were confiscated along with posters of the founder of Falun Gong and a copy of Zhuan Falun . Many family photos were also taken. The officers did not answer when Ms. Yang's daughters asked them their names.
Three more officers returned to the home that evening. The police showed the family a piece of paper titled, “Inspection Permit” and searched around further. Ms. Yang's daughter said: “Leave your names if you have nothing to hide!” However, they still would not tell the family their names.
The persecutors of Falun Gong practitioners in China fear that their names will be published on the Minghui website in association with their crimes.
Ms. Gao Su and Ms. Lin Shaojiu from Fuan of Ningde Arrested
Ms. Gao Su, 58, lives in Shangdonglong, Fuan. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998 and has been harassed, arrested and sent to a brainwashing center numerous times since the persecution began.
Ms. Gao was arrested at home on February 21, 2014. She lost consciousness while being interrogated and was sent to the hospital. Her current situation is unknown. Ms. Gao's husband is a stroke patient and has been left at home without care.
Ms. Lin Shaojiu was arrested at home by six policemen on the afternoon of February 28, 2014. Her home was ransacked and her whereabouts are unknown.
The Domestic Security Division police have given notice that more arrests are planned.
Four Practitioners from Xiapu County of Ningde Arrested
The Beibi Village Police Station police arrested Ms.Ye Biyu, Ms. Wei Shuyi, Ms. Li Meiying and Mr. Chen Saixiong when it was reported that they were in Beibi Village passing out Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs.
They were sent to the Xiapu County Detention Center the next day. Ms. Ye was released on March 4, 2014. Ms. Wei, Ms. Li and Mr. Chen are still being detained.
Three Elderly Practitioners Arrested in Fuzhou
Three elderly practitioners in their 60s and 70s were arrested by different Domestic Security Divisions in Fuzhou. Those arrested include Ms. Lin Meifang, Ms. Zhang Shuilian, and Ms. Wang Zhumei.
Ms. Lin Meifang, lives with her daughter in the dormitory of the Acrobatic Troupe of Fuzhou. The Domestic Security Division police of Gulou District arrested her on the afternoon of February 23, 2014.
Later that evening, under duress, Ms. Lin took the police to her home. The police confiscated her Dafa books, a cellular phone and some personal belongings. There was no warrant for the search and no record of what was taken.
Ms. Lin's son works at the Detention Center No. 2 of Fuzhou, and it is believed this is why Ms. Lin was sent to cell No. 103 at Minhou County Detention Center.
Ms. Lin was followed by over two dozen Domestic Security Division police from Gulou District for several days prior to the arrest.
Ms. Zhang Shuilian was arrested at home in Youlanyuan, near Jinshanrongcheng Plaza. The police from the Fuzhou Domestic Security Division and local Jinshan Police Station carried out the arrest. Officer Li from the Domestic Security Division was in charge. The Gulou Police Department branch office issued the search warrant and other documents. Ms. Zhang's cell phone, a computer and some personal belongings were confiscated.
Ms. Wang Zhumei lives at Hongyangxincheng near Yangqiao Road in Fuzhou. Details about her arrest and whereabouts are unknown.
The Fuzhou 610 Office was behind the arrests in this area. The instructions came from the Domestic Security Division at the city and/or district level. The arrests were then implemented through involvement and cooperation with the local police stations and neighborhood safety committees.
Three Practitioners Tried in Xiamen
The Siming District Court in Xiamen tried Ms. Zhu Fengling, Ms. Li Huiying and Ms. Guo Fengjie on March 4, 2014, for having Falun Gong materials in their homes. The practitioners hired three lawyers from the most northeastern provinces of China. Fujian is one of the most southern provinces. Because the three men do not have family in the area, their families would be free of harassment from authorities while the attorneys represented practitioners of Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhu, in her 30s, is from Heilongjiang Province. She works as a manager in a large company in Xiamen. A dozen officers from the Xiamen 610 Office, the Domestic Security Group and the Siming District Police Department arrested Ms. Zhu and ransacked her home on May 22, 2013. Falun Gong books, newsletters, two desktop computers, two of her husband's work laptops, an iPad, a handheld computer, cell phones and other personal belongings were confiscated. The police have refused to return her husband's laptops.
Ms. Zhu was arrested on the same day and sent to the Siming District Police Station. Her husband, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, was also arrested, but released that evening.
Ms. Li, in her 70s and Ms. Guo, in her 50s, were also arrested on the same day and their homes were ransacked.
Fuzhou Domestic Security Division Responsible for the Persecution
The Fuzhou Domestic Security Division has been directly involved in the arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in the area over many years. Some of those arrested have held high level jobs and are well known in their communities.
Ms. Guan Yujing, a Fuzhou High Court judge, was arrested and sentenced to eight years in prison at the Fujian Women's Prison.
Three practitioners that worked at the Fujian Teacher's College were arrested on September 16, 2009. A retired professor, Fan Kejuan, was sentenced to three years in prison, Ms. Wang Xiuqin, a professor's wife, was persecuted in prison for two years, and Ms. Ye Qiaoming's job was terminated and her benefits were withheld after she had been detained for over a year.
Former Fuzhou Armed Police Academy instructor, Mr. Wang Yongjin, was arrested on August 31, 2010, and sentenced to three years in prison.
Fuzhou Railroad Bureau official, Mr. Zuo Fusheng, was arrested on January 19, 2011. He was sentenced to six years at the Fujian Fuqing Prison.
