(Minghui.org) I began to practice Falun Dafa one year before the persecution started. At that time I was employed at an entertainment center as a cleaner. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, police officers came to harass me and asked the entertainment center to dismiss me. They even found a replacement for me. But the center ignored them because I did a good job there. However, one of my colleagues introduced me to a job in her brother's company.
This was a small private company, but all the employees were university graduates. I had only finished primary school, so I felt a lot of pressure in my new position, but I was confident that I could do the job well because I practice Falun Dafa. As long as I followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I would perform my duties well.
The office was located in the city center, and several days after I started the new job, the local police and officers from the building management came to ask if anyone practiced Falun Dafa. I have to be considerate as a Dafa practitioner and also have to live with dignity and be aboveboard, so I told my boss that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and clarified the truth to her. She said that she respected my belief and that she had seen through the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) a long time ago, and knew that it was a party that promoted persecution. This laid a good foundation for my clarifying the truth in the company. At that time I decided that I must behave according to Dafa's requirements and not do anything to tarnish the reputation of Falun Dafa, so that people would see the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa.
Considering Everything from My Boss's Perspective
My boss and I were the same age. She was a post graduate, married, with no children. She was haughty and ill-tempered. I did office administration work. When I first started, I was not even able to answer the phone properly. Besides, I had to do the photocopying, faxing and other tedious jobs. I was nervous and flustered and often made mistakes. My boss blamed me all the time and thought I was stupid. She lost her temper at me. I was fortunate because I practice Falun Dafa and knew that I had to be understanding, tolerate and forbear. Sometime I felt uncomfortable but I could put up with it. I learned from others and tried to be observant at work. Soon I was able to perform all the office tasks.
I didn't become slack in Fa study even though the work was pretty tough. I memorized Zhuan Falun every day, even if only for ten minutes some times. I memorized the Fa on my way to or from work. So whenever I had conflicts or was wronged, the Fa would come up in my mind and tell me what to do.
One day my boss accidentally deleted a slide file that she had spent a whole week making. I was standing behind her at that time. She suddenly turned around and shouted at me: “It is because of you standing behind me. A whole week was wasted. You are terrible!”
I was shocked and didn't know what to do. My colleagues in the office all came over and the boss was still complaining. I didn't know what to say. I was about to cry and left the room. I found a place with nobody around and started crying. It was time for lunch and on the way to the dining room, I tried to hold my tears back. I had never been wronged in such a way and felt aggrieved. At that time I remembered what Master said:
“In cultivation practice, there may be two scenarios when dealing with specific conflicts or when others treat you badly. One is that you might have treated this person badly in your previous life. You feel in your heart that it is unfair, "How can this person treat me like this?" Then why did you treat this person that way in the past? You might claim that you actually did not know it at that time, and this life has nothing to do with the other life. That does not work.” (Zhuan Falun)
I realized that I must have wronged my boss in my past life and had to pay it back in this lifetime. I felt relieved after I understood this principle. Though she still complained in the afternoon, I was able to work calmly. My colleagues said that Falun Gong practitioners were well educated. I took this opportunity to tell them the facts about Falun Dafa. They acknowledged it after they had listened to me. They put the faxes from overseas about Falun Gong on my desk after they read them.
This incident made me realize how difficult my boss's situation was so I tried to consider things from her perspective. The company didn't run well. When she had conflicts with the clients or various government departments, she lost her temper at me. I tolerated her and tried to understand her. Actually she was quite good, because she acknowledged Falun Dafa. She taught me how to use the computer and other skills soon after I came to the company, though she was impatient in teaching me. I learned how to type, do layout and burn CDs and DVDs and laid a good foundation for my making truth-clarifying materials later on. Master had arranged this for me and gave me the opportunities to cultivate away many attachments while learning technical skills. Master had arranged my cultivation path in an orderly manner.
My Boss and Her Husband Moved by My Kindness
My boss and her husband were highly educated, but not good at running a company. The company didn't make any profit for some time and we were not paid for three months. The building management urged them to pay expenses at that time. They became anxious. I lent them ten thousand yuan for them to pay the rent. They were really moved. My boss's husband said that he would like to learn Falun Dafa. Through this, my colleagues saw how a Falun Dafa practitioner considers others first and how wonderful Falun Dafa is.
I was arrested and detained in a brainwashing center for fifteen days in 2004. I thought my company would have fired me after I was released. But my boss rang me and asked me to come to work immediately. She paid me my full salary that month. My colleagues told me that they planned to visit me at the brainwashing center. I felt happy for them because they had chosen a good future for themselves due to their kind thoughts toward Falun Dafa. At the same time I was very thankful to Master for arranging all this for me.
Doing My Job Well Regardless of Being Paid or Not
My salary was six hundred yuan a month when I first entered the company. I was told that it would be increased when I was able to use the computer. My main job was cleaning, answering the phones and photocopying. Most of the employees were university graduates and had their own responsibilities. My workload was increased dramatically when I learned how to use the computer. Later on I was told to do lab work and wash equipment in the factory. I was far too busy but never complained. I always did every job well regardless of whether the boss was present or not.
Other employees thought it was unfair to me, because I was paid the least but worked the most. They said that they would have resigned a long time ago if they were in my position. I said to them that my boss had taught me a lot and now I even knew how to use the computer and joked with them that I had to pay the tuition fee. They said, “The boss has got the right person. Only Falun Dafa practitioners are as kind as that.” I responded, “Yes, our Master teaches us to be kind like that.”
As a matter of fact, my boss knew how hard I was working. For quite a few years I was the only person who got the highest bonus in the company. She gave me a bonus of three thousand yuan one year.
I stayed in that company for eight years. The boss invited me to their New Year's party every year, even after I quit working there. Every time, I brought truth-clarifying materials and Shen Yun DVDs to them and asked them to remember that Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.
