(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners from Jinchang City, Gansu Province have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin recently, according to reports compiled by the Minghui website.
The practitioners charge the former Chinese dictator with initiating the brutal suppression of Falun Gong and hold him responsible for the tremendous suffering inflicted upon them by his campaign. The criminal complaints were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.
Many of these practitioners recounted how Falun Gong returned them to health and gave them a new outlook on life. Their dream to live a healthier and happier life, however, was shattered when Jiang Zemin launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate the practice in 1999.
Simply for refusing to give up their belief, they were arrested, detained, tortured, and had their homes ransacked and personal belongings seized by the communist authorities. Many also saw their families implicated for their belief; some were also forced to pay huge fines.
Some Jinchang City practitioners who filed criminal complaints were in their seventies. Below, we profile four such practitioners.
Ms. Shi Ruzhen, 76, once worked in Gansu Province Geo-Exploration and Mining Development Bureau. Her home was ransacked three times—2000, 2001, and 2009. On March 16, 2010, she was sentenced to three years in prison.
Ms. Yang Xiufang (楊秀芳), a retiree from Jinchuan, was arrested four times and taken to the addiction treatment center twice for more than four months. During her forced detention authorities made her pay for her living expenses. She was forced to pay frequent fines even though her pension was suspended from 2002 to 2006.
Bowing to pressure from the CCP and police, Ms. Yang's husband gave up the practice of Falun Gong that removed his diseases and brought him good heath. In 2004, he suffered a stroke and couldn't take care of himself.
Ms. Zhang Shumei, 68, who retired from Yongchang Carpet Factory, was arrested twice, at the end of 1999 and 2002 for more than six months. Police told her family to pay for her living expenses in the detention center.
Police went to his home and harassed her almost every month. Ms. Zhang said she had no idea how many times her home had been ransacked. They yelled at her, “If you continue practicing Falun Gong, we will cut off your retirement pension, then you will have nothing to eat!”
Under intense threats and pressure, Ms. Zhang Shumen's husband suffered a heart attack and passed away two years later.
Ms. Kong Shuying, 70, was arrested three times and taken to an addiction treatment center once. Police went to her home to harassed her for several days. Her five-year-old grandson was so frightened that he peed in his pants. She was forced to leave home to avoid persecution, but police never stop monitoring her.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
