(Minghui.org) Although the persecution of Falun Gong is still rampant across some areas in China, in other locales police and Chinese people are quietly making efforts to support Falun Gong, after realizing that practitioners are good people and how brutal the persecution is.
The following are some examples that illustrate the changes in attitudes people have demonstrated across different regions of China.
A practitioner in Heilongjiang Province chatted with an elderly man about Falun Gong at a local market. The man told the practitioner that his family had also been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and he had been held in a forced labor camp where he suffered a great deal.
The man's son works at a local police station. The man said he told his son to release as many arrested Falun Gong practitioners as possible because they are good people. He also told his son that the CCP is corrupt and that it orders the police to persecute good people.
Policeman Feels Protected After Quitting the CCP
Patrolling police arrested two practitioners who were talking to people about Falun Gong. The practitioners spoke to the officer who was assigned to watch them at the police station about Falun Gong and the persecution.
The officer told them that he knew that Falun Gong is good. He had quit the Party when an overseas practitioner called the station. “My life became easier after I quit the Party,” he told the practitioners, “I am protected.”
He told them he and his partner were traveling on a business trip when they had a car accident and the car flipped over. His partner was severely injured but he had no injuries at all. “Falun Gong is amazing,” he said.
The police captain who was doing the paperwork for the practitioners then told them he would call an acquaintance at the detention center and ask him not to give them a hard time.
Clearing Away Misconceptions
A practitioner took some fliers about Falun Gong to the local market one morning. A man in his 50's called the practitioner over. Although the practitioner didn't recognize the man they chatted anyway.
The man said the practitioner had given him a DVD about Falun Gong a few years ago. “I didn't quite agree with you at the beginning, because I didn't think the CCP is as bad as the DVD said,” he told the practitioner.
The man said he had gradually come to understand the content of the DVD and he realized that the Communist Party is totally corrupt. “Falun Gong is doing the right thing against the Communist Party,” the man said.
The practitioner told him that practitioners were not supposed to get involved in politics. “We just want to tell people what Falun Gong is and why the Party persecutes Falun Gong,” the practitioner said.
The practitioner gave the man two new DVDs about Falun Gong. The man happily accepted the DVDs and said he wanted to talk with the practitioner about Falun Gong next time.
The same practitioner talked to a man selling vegetables at the market and gave the man a Shen Yun DVD. The practitioner then changed the topic.
“What do you think about Falun Gong?” the practitioner asked the man.
“Falun Gong is so powerful,” the man exclaimed, “They have pulled down the Communist Party.”
The practitioner told him that Falun Gong didn't pull the party down. The party destroyed itself by persecuting good people. “What goes around comes around,” the practitioner told the man, and he agreed.
The practitioner went back to see the man the following morning and helped him quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
