(Minghui.org) Ms. Xiong Ying, a National First Class Registered Structural Engineer from Beijing, joined the tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners from inside and outside of China in filing a criminal complaint on June 17, 2015.
The defendant is Jiang Zemin, former leader of the Chinese Communist regime who launched the violent persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Xiong submitted her complaint to China's Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court and received mailing confirmations.
Jiang “Must be Held Responsible” for Genocide
Ms. Xiong started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. However, since the self-cultivation practice was banned in 1999, she became a target of local officials. She has been repeatedly arrested, tortured, and subjected to brainwashing as communist authorities tried to force her to renounce her belief.
Many practitioners have lost their lives, and only a small portion of the deaths could be verified because of the secrecy surrounding the persecution. Therefore, Ms. Xiong is charging Jiang with genocide.
“Jiang Zemin launched the persecution against Falun Gong,” she said in her complaint. “During the past ten-plus years, millions of practitioners were arrested, tortured, and killed, with some having their organs harvested while still alive.”
She added, “Jiang and his accomplices must be held responsible for the crime that is unprecedented in human history.”
Below is Ms. Xiong's own account of the abuses she suffered as a result of the persecution.
Falun Gong Made Me a Better Person
Falun Gong has made me a better person, because it taught me to follow the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I treat everyone kindly and strive to be a good person. Whenever I face a conflict, I examine myself and do not point fingers at others.
My interpersonal relationships with co-workers and family members improved significantly, because I put others first. Conflicts between me, my mother-in-law, and sister-in-law no longer exist because I have given up my attachment to self-interest.
I returned to good health and found peace in my heart.
Repeated Torture and Brainwashing
I was arrested twice between July and October 1999 for appealing for the right to practice Falun Gong at the National Office of Letters and Appeals in Beijing. I was detained for one day after the first arrest and three days the second time.
I went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing in October 1999 and displayed a banner that said that Falun Gong is good. I was arrested and detained for five days. During my detention, the police shocked my head with an electric baton.
About seven officials broke into my home in February 2001 and illegally arrested me. They ransacked my home and confiscated my Falun Gong books and materials. They also demanded that I pay more than 6,000 yuan and brainwashed me for four weeks.
Then, they put me in a brainwashing class from July to November 2012. Three security guards were assigned to monitor me around the clock. I was deprived of sleep for seven days and had to stay standing throughout the entire time.
The staff at the brainwashing center tortured me. When I went on a hunger strike, I was held down by more than 10 people and force-fed. They grabbed my neck, choked me nearly to death, and pried my mouth open.
Then, I was arrested in April 2015 by officers from the Shuguang Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong and the persecution at a supermarket. My home was ransacked, and I was detained for 10 days at the Haidian Detention Center.
Harmonious Family Life Destroyed
The persecution not only brought me pain, but also caused a great deal of stress to my family. My husband, because of the communist regime's policy of implication by association, endured a lot of pressure from his supervisors. He often snaps and yells at me out of frustration.
My parents lose sleep night after night. Some of my close friends and family members were also harassed and forced to help the Party officials in their attempts to “transform” me.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
