(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Qiaoping, former deputy director of the administrative office of Grain Bureau of Gaoyi County in Hebei Province, has filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, whom she holds responsible for the brutal persecution of Falun Gong.
Her complaint was posted to the Supreme Procuratorate in Beijing on June 21, 2015, and she received a message the next day, confirming that it was received.
Ms. Wang and her family have endured enormous pain and suffering over the last 16 years.
The police went to her house many times trying to arrest her, but failed on most occasions thanks to her family's resistance or because she was not home at the time. When the police stationed agents outside her home for days on end in early 2003, she had to make the difficult decision to leave home. She didn't get to return for three years.
She was suspended from her job with no pay a few months after she was first detained in September 2000. Her employer never reinstated her, so she cannot claim her pension. During her second detention between late 2001 and early 2002, she was brutally force-fed several times when she protested by going on a hunger strike.
Because Ms. Wang refused to renounce Falun Gong, her husband was suspended from his job as well. Her elderly mother passed away as a result of constant anxiety and worries over Ms. Wang's safety.
Ms. Wang detailed her suffering in her lawsuit.
An Excellent Public Servant
Ms. Wang Qiaoping started practicing Falun Gong on May 2, 1996, and benefited a great deal both physically and mentally. Many of her stubborn illnesses disappeared, including neurasthenia, Meniere's disease, sciatica, and lumbar myofascitis.
At work, she received “Excellent Public Servant” awards three years in a row for her outstanding contributions.
However, her peaceful and fulfilling life was completely destroyed after Jiang Zemin launched the nationwide persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999.
Constant Harassment by Police
Ms. Wang and her mother went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on July 20,1999, but were illegally arrested and taken to Beijing Daxing Detention Center. They managed to escape.
After they returned home, local police detained her younger brother, her younger sister, and her mother for interrogation and intimidation. The police have never stopped harassing her family.
Ms. Wang, her sister, and brother-in-law were arrested on April 21, 2000, and detained for ten days for refusing to give up their belief in Falun Gong.
Illegally Suspended from Her Job
On September 30, 2000, Ms. Wang was suspended from her job without pay at the directive of the local 610 Office. She tried many times to reason with her employer, but was told that she could not be reinstated unless she renounced her practice of Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang has struggled without a job or an income for nearly 15 years. Even when she reached retirement age in 2010, she could not get a pension despite her repeated appeals to the local authorities.
Her husband, Mr. Zong Puyuan, used to be the deputy head of the county's Bureau of Civil Affairs. He was very popular among his colleagues and was on the way to being promoted to the head position before the persecution started.
However, because his wife practices Falun Gong, in late July he was also suspended from his position and was often humiliated at the bureau meetings. The enormous pressure took a toll on him, and he even contemplated suicide. He was transferred to work elsewhere.
In Critical Condition for Seven Days
On the evening of December 28, 2001, Niu Shengbiao and other police officers tricked Ms. Wang's husband into opening the door. They took Ms. Wang to the Gaoyi County Detention Center and searched and ransacked their home.
They told her that she would be sentenced to prison. Ms. Wang went on a huger strike to protest the unlawful treatment, and was subjected to brutal force-feeding. Seven or eight male criminal inmates held her down, while medical staff inserted a tube into her stomach through her nostril. She writhed in pain.
The detention center doctor checked her heart and blood pressure and told her not to move or she would go into shock. Only then did the police take her to the hospital. Ms. Wang was told that there was a problem with her kidneys, too, and treatment would be very expensive.
An inmate carried her out on his back when her husband came to pick her up on January 5, 2002. He was shocked to see her in such condition in a matter of seven days!
Ms. Wang's ordeal didn't end there. The police tried four more times to take her into custody. To avoid further arrests, she eventually left home in January 2003 and was destitute for the next three years.
Fear and Anxiety Contribute to Mother's Early Death
Repeated harassment and threats by the police over the years left Ms. Wang's whole family fearful and anxious, especially her mother.
“My mom was under enormous mental stress and extremely worried about my safety, because the police tried so many times to arrest me. She tensed up each time she heard the police sirens and her heart raced,” said Ms. Wang.
“She had trouble eating and sleeping, and her eyesight was failing rapidly, too. She often woke up startled by nightmares. Once she shouted, “The police are right at our doorstep! They are here to catch me!”
Ms. Wang's mother passed away on December 9, 2005, at the age of 71.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
