Ms. Liu Cuifen (刘翠芬), 63-years-old, was arrested on February 6, 2016 for handing out Chinese New Year gifts in Yangqiao Village, Yukou Town of Pinggu District, a suburb of Beijing.
An informant called the police, but Ms. Liu had left by the time the police arrived. Officers found Ms. Liu halfway from her home and made the arrest.
Liu Zeng, a village security supervisor, then escorted the police officers to Ms. Liu’s home for a search. They confiscated some New Year's pictures and wall calendars with Falun Gong content and some other Falun Gong pamphlets.
Ms. Liu Cuizhen is currently being held at Pinggu Detention Center.
Health Restored, Then Off to a Labor Camp and Tortured for Her Belief
After Ms. Liu began to practice Falun Gong in 1999, all her physical illnesses including: Heart disease, arthritis, hyperplasia, gastritis, depression, back pain, and headache were quickly cured. Moreover, Ms. Liu was a bad-tempered woman who became good-natured. Her family members were very happy to see her positive changes.
After Chinese regime leader Jiang Zemin launched the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Liu was constantly harassed and detained. She was arrested by officers from Yukou Police Station and the village security supervisor. They took her to a brainwashing center on Chinese New Year in 2001.
Ms. Liu was forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and deprived of sleep. She was later incarcerated in a brainwashing center for 15 days in April 2003.
Ms. Liu was also arrested and sent to a labor camp for two years in 2006. Following her arrest, the police went to ransack her home while her husband and child were there.
During her two years in the labor camp, Ms. Liu was subjected to a number of tortures including, sitting on a small stool for extended hours and sleep deprivation. Her personal hygiene time was also restricted.
She was also forced to do hard labor including, packaging beans, tea, and moon cakes. The camp authorities also forced her to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and write the so-called three-statements to denounce Falun Gong.
