(Minghui.org) On a chilly but sunny day in mid December, Falun Dafa practitioners in front of Taipei's Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall greeted Chinese tourists and introduced them to Falun Dafa. We include here several stories about activities at the Falun Dafa information site at the memorial hall.
A tall and strong man approached a practitioner, pointed to the display board showing the facts of the persecution of Falun Dafa, and said, “I probably know more about Falun Dafa than you. Our city used to have a lot of people practicing Falun Dafa. The persecution of Falun Dafa started in our city, Tianjin.”
“It has been many years,” he sighed.
He said his name was Li. The practitioner guided him to the display boards depicting the story of the April 25, 1999 peaceful appeal in Beijing.
He read the display boards carefully. After a while, he called other tour group members to come over, “Hurry up, come here, the people who did bad deeds in Tianjin all received retribution. Many of them are already dead!”
Almost the entire group came to read the display boards.
When practitioners invited them to quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations, another tourist whispered something to Mr. Li, who replied loudly, “I am not afraid. I want to quit!”
After quitting the Party, he asked if Falun Dafa was legally practiced in Taiwan and how many people practice there. He then turned to other members of the group and said, “See, if (the Chinese government) didn't ban Falun Dafa, these years would have been peaceful.
“There used to be so many people practicing Falun Dafa. Actually practicing (Falun Dafa) lets people have faith; they don't fight for personal interest and have a high moral standard. That is the best.”
Following Mr. Li's lead, many members of the group also quit the Party.
A tour guide returned to the Falun Dafa information site after taking tourists into the memorial hall to watch the changing of the guard ceremony.
The guide said to a practitioner, “They asked me why the Taiwanese government doesn't arrest Falun Dafa practitioners like in China. I told them that people in Taiwan have freedom of belief. Falun Dafa is legal. We have freedom of speech, too. No matter whether you agree with the government or not, your right of speech is protected.”
This man has been a tour guide for years and often talks about Falun Dafa practitioners. He once led a tour group which had a woman who worked in a prison in Shanxi Province. He told her that jailed Falun Dafa practitioners were called prisoners of conscience. They didn't do anything bad, and they were very kind and innocent. He asked her to take good care of them, as even a little bit of help means a lot.
The woman replied that she would, and that she knew that Falun Dafa practitioners were very kind.
An elderly couple was reading the display boards carefully when a few more people from the same group joined them to read the boards. The older man said, “I have been reading Falun Dafa information for a long time.”
A practitioner said to him, “Falun Dafa teaches people to be kind, and the practice improves health, saving a lot of health care money for the government. This is a good thing, nothing bad at all.”
The man agreed, “If you persecute Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, you must be evil, and surely a bad person... If what you said is true, I believe.”
The practitioner made a pseudonym for him to quit the Party. The man nodded but didn't say a word. To confirm that it was his will to quit the Party, the practitioner asked him if he agreed to quit.
He replied, “You said people should make their own judgment of right or wrong, and not blindly follow the government. This is reasonable, and I believe you. I totally agree!”
A Taiwanese couple once came to the site. The wife gave a thumbs-up and exclaimed, “Falun Dafa is great! I watched TV and read fliers (about forced organ harvesting in China). Do you have the petition I can sign to help end forced organ harvesting? I want to sign.”
The husband hesitated and said, “I have a lot of friends in China. You are against China.”
A practitioner explained to him, “We treasure every Chinese person. We are not against China. We are against this violent regime's persecution of Falun Dafa.”
He understood and replied, “Correct, the Communist Party is an authoritarian regime, and the regime is killing its own people. I lived in Shanghai for a year so I know. Okay, I want to sign, too.”
