(Minghui.org) Ms. Peng Xiuli, a Falun Gong practitioner from Qinghuangdao City in Hebei Province, was arrested by police for talking to people about the communist regime’s persecution of her faith. The police ransacked her home and detained her in the Qinghuangdao Detention Center. Due to stress, her father passed away five days after the arrest. The family's request to allow her to attend his funeral was denied. Ms. Peng is now emaciated; her blood pressure is high, and her heartbeat is irregular.
Ms. Peng met an acquaintance on the morning of November 3, 2018, in her community and told him about Falun Gong and its persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. The local party secretary and director happened to be nearby and called the police. They arrested Ms. Peng and took her to the Northern Industrial Zone Police Station.
The police took her to the lockup after holding her at the station for 24 hours. She went on a hunger strike and was force-fed on the ninth day. Ms. Peng was later transferred to the detention center.
The day she was arrested, the police also seized her computer, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, and books about the practice. They claimed that Ms. Peng was conspiring with foreign powers because she had been getting information from the Internet after bypassing the government's online censorship.
