(Minghui.org) Despite the ongoing persecution in China, some police officers learned the facts of Falun Gong and changed their attitudes towards practitioners. Below are some examples.
I talked with a police guard in a forced labor camp in 2004 and told him about Falun Gong. Before that, he had shocked practitioners with electric batons to try to force them to give up their belief. He told me that some practitioners had written articles after their release, saying that he was vicious and included him on a list of thugs.
To clarify his confusion, I explained that Falun Gong is righteous and it has benefited many. I told him that this self-improvement system had turned a lot of citizens into good and better people. Were these people to be "transformed" and give up their belief of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, wouldn't this nation be hopeless? Plus, anyone who does wrong will face consequences sooner or later. In fact, even the communist party sometimes punished a few key thugs during it political campaigns in order to ease tensions. Considering his and his family's future, I suggested that he treat practitioners well from then on to make up for what he had done.
He agreed and said, “Although I am a police officer, this uniform cannot hide my conscience.” After that, he took down several practitioners that had been hung up by handcuffs and stopped torturing practitioners. One practitioner who was sentenced to three years of detention said this police guard once spent hundreds of yuan of his own money so the practitioner could return to his home in the countryside by taxi.
This police officer did not talk much. But his actions showed that he had changed.
Police arrested and detained me in early 2002. After I told officers the facts of Falun Gong, one of them was very moved. Upon hearing my home had been searched with personal properties confiscated, he said to me, “This [the ransacking] is unlawful. If you file a lawsuit in the future, come to me and I will help you with it,” he said.
When the persecution was very rampant in 2002, I was the only practitioner in my area who refused to give up my belief. “There is a quota for labor camps. Since you did not transform, you have to go there no matter what,” said the head of the local 610 Office.
One police officer told me this and asked if I had any questions. I said I did not break any law or do anything wrong. I explained it was the police officers who are unlawful and I would bring them to justice in the future.
The officer said that there was nothing he could do because he was simply following orders from above. “When your daughter grows up, I will pay her college tuition.” He also told me his surname is Wang and he was the director of the Legal Department in the police system.
