(Minghui.org) A family in Anguo City, Hebei Province has filed complaints against the local procuratorate and relevant agencies for pressing wrongful charges against their loved one for her faith in Falun Gong, despite that she almost died after suffering a stroke in custody.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Ma Huixin (also known as Ma Xinying) was arrested on June 13, 2020, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, and she was given a physical examination the next day. After she was found to be totally healthy, she was sent to the Baoding Detention Center.
Around midnight on November 7, Ms. Ma’s son received a call from the deputy director of the detention center and was told that she had been sent to the hospital for resuscitation after she had a major cerebral hemorrhage.
Ms. Ma’s son and daughter went to the hospital the next morning. She had been transferred to an intensive care unit and remained in a coma. The detention center claimed that Ms. Ma had long-term high blood pressure before her detention and pressured her son to sign a document with fabricated evidence about her condition.
Ms. Ma’s son refused to sign the document and said she had never had the alleged preexisting condition of high blood pressure. He asked: “If she was indeed sick at the time she was arrested, why did the detention center still accept her?”
While Ms. Ma was hospitalized, the Gaoyang Procuratorate indicted her and forwarded her case to the Gaoyang County Court.
On November 9, Ms. Ma’s husband and her son went to the Gaoyang County Court and demanded that the judge dismiss her case and acquit her. The judge replied, “We won’t have a hearing right now. We’re giving her six months of house arrest and will schedule a hearing after that.”
After staying in the intensive care unit for two weeks, Ms. Ma has been transferred to a regular ward. Her mind remains in a delirious state.
