(Minghui.org) Inside the Liaoning Women’s Prison, Falun Gong practitioners who refuse to give up their faith are targeted and abused. The prison authorities torture the practitioners in order to force them to renounce Falun Gong, a health-improving spiritual teaching currently being persecuted in China.
The following are a few cases of the practitioners imprisoned and the tortures they have suffered.
Ms. Zhang Fengxia from Chaoyang City was beaten multiple times for refusing to renounce her belief. On one occasion in 2017, the guards put a plastic bag over her head and then beat her. She quickly lost consciousness because of the excruciating pain and lack of air. Instead of checking on her vital signs, the guards claimed that she was faking.
Ms. Ye Zhongqiu was also a victim of vicious beatings. She filed a complaint with the supervisors of the ward and didn’t hear anything back. She wrote a letter to the local procuratorate, only to have the letter withheld by the prison.
Other practitioners who sustained beatings include Ms. Liu Jing from Jinzhou City and Ms. Wu Yuping.
The guards found Falun Gong literature in Ms. Liu Pintong’s cell and put her in solitary confinement for 15 days. Ms. Liu went on a hunger strike to protest.
Ms. Liu had a few more hunger strikes to protest the close monitoring by the prisoners. She was subsequently tortured and became emaciated. She was found to have kidney failure after being rushed to a hospital.
Ms. Liu wasn’t spared the beatings. When she refused to follow orders, the guards instigated a prisoner to beat her into submission. The prisoner smashed her head with a stool. Her head was swollen and she was dizzy for many days. The prisoner was rewarded with a reduced sentence.
Ms. Zhang Wei was placed in solitary confinement because a prisoner saw her doing the Falun Gong exercises.
A prisoner reported Ms. Liu Ronghua, a resident of Dalian City, for having Falun Gong literature in her cell. A guard tried to punish her by making her stand facing a wall and she refused to comply. Later when her family came to visit, the authorities turned them away.
Ms. Li Guixia, a resident of Chaoyang City, was locked in a dining area in an old building during the winter. There was no heating in the dining area and her face, hands and legs suffered frostbite. Another time Ms. Li was taken to the dining area because she refused to recite the prison rules. No one was allowed to get close when the guards tortured her.
