(Minghui.org) Two Yushu City, Jilin Province residents are still awaiting verdicts six months after their court hearing for their faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Fengjuan, 52, was arrested at the bakery store of Ms. Bai Lijun, 58, on February 11, 2019. The police ransacked both of their homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books.
The Dehui City Procuratorate approved their arrests two weeks later. They were transferred to Dehui City Detention Center in July 2019, where they have since been held.
After the prosecutor submitted the practitioners’ cases to Dehui City Court, the judge didn’t allow Ms. Bai’s lawyer to enter a not guilty for her, because she is a Falun Gong practitioner.
Ms. Wang and Ms. Bai appeared in court on August 8, 2019. When Ms. Bai's lawyer visited her at the detention center in early January 2020, they learned that neither of them had received any verdict.
It’s reported that one of the judges in charge of their cases is being investigated for taking bribes.
Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Wang has been repeatedly arrested and harassed for her faith during the past 20 years. She was given two forced labor camp terms in 2001 and 2008, for a total of more than four years.
