(Minghui.org) Nine Falun Gong practitioners in Yinchuan City, Ningxia arrested last year are facing prosecution for their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
These practitioners were targeted in a group arrest of thirteen on September 19, 2019. The police ransacked all of the practitioners’ homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books and related materials.
Four practitioners, including Mr. Jiang Tao, Mr. Nan Yongsheng, Ms. Chen Shuhui, and Mr. Ren Chuntian in his 80s, were released on bail.
The remaining nine practitioners, including Ms. Zhu Haiyan (wife of Mr. Jiang), Ms. Chen Bo, Ms. Xie Nanfang, Ms. Na Qin, Ms. Xiao Yanzhi, Ms. Jiang Chunmei, Ms. Wang Xiuhua, Ms. Sun Fanghui, and Ms. Sun Fanghong, were detained at Yinchuan City Detention Center.
The nine practitioners’ arrests were approved by the Xixia District Procuratorate in late October 2019 and their cases submitted to the procuratorate in late December.
Some practitioners’ families are hiring lawyers for them.
Ms. Zhu, 46, used to work at Yongning County Environmental Protection Agency. She took up Falun Gong in 1998 and credits the practice for curing her many ailments, including eye problems, frozen shoulder and gallbladder inflammation.
Prior to her latest arrest, she was given two years of forced labor in 2000 and three years in prison in 2005 for her faith.
Her husband, Mr. Jiang, was sentenced three times for a total of 12.5 years. The mistreatment he suffered in prison left him with poor vision and hearing, loss of memory, and high blood pressure.
