(Minghui.org) A man and his sister-in-law are facing trial on November 12, 2021 for their shared faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Wang Dunlong, a famous calligrapher in Hefei City, Anhui Province, was arrested at home on July 21, 2020. The police also arrested his wife, Ms. Hu Xueye, and her sister, Ms. Hu Wenye. Their Falun Gong books, informational materials, computer, and printer were confiscated.
It was reported that the police targeted the three practitioners after they were reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in February and March 2020.
While Ms. Hu Xueye was released after 13 days of detention and cleared of prosecution, the police submitted the case against her husband and sister to the Shushan District Procuratorate and sought prosecution of them.
Mr. Wang has been held at the Hefei City Detention Center since his arrest. Ms. Hu Wenye was later released on bail.
The Shushan District Court scheduled a hearing for Mr. Wang’s case on May 14, 2021, but later canceled it due to a local outbreak of coronavirus cases. The court later scheduled a joint hearing of the cases against him and his sister-in-law for November 12.
