(Minghui.org) I have worked in education for almost 25 years. During that time I have been a headteacher for 15 years and led eight graduating senior classes. My graduating class always ranks first of all the senior classes at my school on the annual National College Entrance Exam. I have received multiple outstanding headteacher awards from the city government. It was fairly easy for me to lead my classes and I would like to share my experiences.
They Are All Good Children
I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and Dafa has unlocked my wisdom and helped me understand many of life’s principles. Master has arranged for me to educate every student in my class, since they each have a strong predestined relationship with me. Regardless of their grades, all of my students have good inborn quality. I firmly believe that they will become outstanding people in the future. They are all good children.
I have my students introduce themselves on the first day of school and, based on my intuition, I then nominate a class helper. In the days to come, I nominate different helpers for different activities, and they are never limited to formalities.
Influencing Students and Parents with My Behavior
When I teach, I emphasize the importance of being a good person and maintaining good moral standards. Not only do I set high standards for my students, I also conduct myself according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. For example, I never accept gifts from parents. If for some reason I am unable to return a gift, I will return a gift of equal value to the parent at the end of the year. When I return the gift, I clarify the truth to the parent.
Being aware of the truth about Falun Dafa and sincerely reciting “Falun Dafa is good” has been very beneficial to students while they take the College Entrance Exam. Many miracles have happened during this process.
One female student, Jing, had very poor grades despite working really hard. Her grades remained at the bottom of her class months before the College Entrance Exam. Her mother was very upset, hardly able to eat or sleep, and I felt her anxiety each time she called me.
I had previously clarified the truth to her mother and helped her quit the Chinese Communist Party and its youth organizations. Since it was unsafe for me to say “Falun Dafa is good” on the phone, I told her mother to silently pray and believe in the divine.
While I was writing my experience sharing, Jing’s mother informed me that Jing’s scores on the College Entrance Exam came back and she had been accepted by one of the universities in Beijing. She was ecstatic and wanted to treat me to a meal. I had returned all the money that Jing’s mother had tried to give me and wanted her to understand that I was truly sincere about wanting Jing to do well. I told her, “Dafa practitioners truly want to help others. If you really want to express your gratitude, you can do so to our master, Master Li Hongzhi!”
I designated a student life committee to manage all the money and materials at the beginning of the school year. I then took a month’s worth of my salary to replenish class supplies. Then I taught the children how to earn money by selling food and bottled water. In the end, the school started to distribute class allowances.
I never once took advantage of the materials in our class. If I needed a bottle of water, I would pay for it like everybody else. Seeing that, students did the same when they needed things. The student life committee would tally up the sales at the end of the day to make sure no one took advantage of the class supplies.
Using Compassion to Educate Children
Dafa has taught me to be compassionate and to treat all of my students equally. I also remind my students to be compassionate, and by doing so I suppress their bad habits. When a student makes a mistake, I step into their shoes to solve the problem with them.
Master said,
“I have not only taught you Dafa, but have also left you my demeanor. While working, your tone of voice, your kindheartedness, and your reasoning can change a person’s heart, whereas commands never could! If others are not convinced deep down inside but only superficially comply, they will still conduct themselves according to their own will when no one is around to see them.” (“Clearheadedness,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
When dealing with bad behavior, I use my compassion, and this has proved to be very effective. At times when it was hard for me to control my emotions, I would tell my students, “If you see me losing my temper, please remind me and I will correct myself.”
I also regard dealing with conflicts between students as a chance to upgrade myself. I abide by the principles of Dafa and make sure my actions are righteous and upright. By doing so, I’ve set a foundation for how to conduct oneself and for clarifying the truth to my students in the future.
Being Tolerant
There was a student named Jie, who was very tall and strong. Jie was known to fight a lot in school and during his second year of high school, his parents transferred him to my class. Not long after that, Jie beat up another boy for blocking his view while they were watching a basketball game. Jie was sent home to reflect on his actions, but I called both him and his parents to come to my office. I told Jie to sit right next to me, facing his parents.
By sitting across from his parents, Jie saw how worried they were. I told him, “Not only are your parents worried about you when you fight, they also have to compensate the student you hit. And on top of that, you can’t focus on your studies.” Jie had not imagined that he would be sitting next to me and was even more surprised at the fact that I “gave my word” to the school ensuring that Jie would not get into trouble anymore.
Jie felt remorseful and I told him, “Think about your parents when you have the urge to fight in the future. It is not easy, but you have to learn to be tolerant.”
I nominated him to be on the disciplinary committee and to assist the class monitor in disciplinary actions. Jie felt I truly cared for him and tried his best to discipline the class and never once fought with anyone again. Although the other students were intimidated by him, they knew it was for their own good.
After graduation, Jie was accepted at a university in Korea and majored in logistics. I have many examples like Jie.
People often ask, “How do you get your students to be so disciplined?” The answer is: Not only do I teach them how to be tolerant, I also explain the importance of being tolerant. They see that I treat them the same even after I return all the gifts and money their parents try to give me, and they realize that I care for them from the bottom of my heart. These are the two reasons why students listen to me when I clarify the truth to them.
My students feel very fortunate to have me, a Dafa disciple, as their teacher. Many of them come back and visit me after they graduate. These former students are very successful. Some own businesses while others hold important positions.
Competent Student Committee
It’s fairly easy for me to manage my classes since I have competent students on the student committee. Rather than issuing orders, I always guide and discuss with them how to deal with certain situations. My class monitors have always excelled in their academics. Last year, however, I had two class monitors whose grades weren’t that ideal. They were very worried and I started to get anxious.
I clarified the truth to them just two months before the National College Entrance Exam and told them that, even if their grades weren’t good enough for them to be accepted by their ideal colleges, “by firmly believing Falun Dafa is good and quitting the Chinese Communist Party and its youth organizations,” they would be blessed. Both class monitors believed what I said and quit the CCP and its youth organizations and started to silently recite, “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” They did very well on the college entrance exam and were accepted by the colleges of their choice. They were very happy and came to visit me during the holidays.
Master said,
“ It was Dafa—the Great Way of the universe—that created the cosmic body, the universe, life, and all of creation. Any life that turns away from Dafa is truly corrupt. Any person who can align with Dafa is truly a good person, and will be rewarded and blessed with health and happiness.” (“Lunyu,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
The students in my class participated in a lot of extracurricular activities but this did not hinder them from being accepted by the universities they wanted to get into. This shows that once students are aware of the truth of Dafa, they will be blessed.
Entire Class Is Blessed by Reciting “Falun Dafa Is Good” During the Pandemic
I led another graduating class in 2020. By believing in Dafa during the pandemic, the students received greater blessings—a further manifestation of the wonder of Dafa.
The provincial education bureau and health commissary required all third-year high school students and teachers to be locked down in an enclosed setting. This meant that parents were not allowed to visit, and students could not leave the building. If anyone had symptoms of a fever, an ambulance would be called and they would be put in quarantine. This worried everyone. Faced with the upcoming National College Entrance Exam and the possibility of getting the CCP virus, the students were under a lot of stress.
I started to ask myself what I should do. Should I protect myself and not clarify the truth or be selfless and clarify the truth? I started to study the Fa.
Master said,
“I also want to tell you that your nature in the past was actually based on egotism and selfishness. From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism. So from now on, whatever you do or whatever you say, you must consider others—or even future generations—along with Dafa’s eternal stability.” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature,” Essentials for Further Advancement)
I knew I needed to listen to Master and fulfill my mission by saving sentient beings. Dafa disciples are sentient beings’ only hope during these dangerous times.
I decided to let go of all my worries and use the wisdom Master has given me. I used cards and truth-clarification currency to alleviate the students’ stress. I told them that “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” is the cure for this epidemic, and by quitting the CCP and its youth organizations they would be blessed. It was fairly easy for them to accept the truth about Dafa and quit the Party’s organizations, since we have a really good relationship. Master was even compassionate enough to give another student of mine, who had dropped out of school earlier, a chance to be saved. I took that opportunity to clarify the truth to her and she was also able to quit the Party’s organizations.
All of my students were able to understand the truth about Falun Dafa. Though everyone else was full of panic and fear, they were as carefree as before and were able to laugh, play, and eat as the weather warmed up. By sincerely reciting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” the power of Dafa protected them from the pandemic.
During the CCP virus, none of my students had to be taken away in an ambulance due to having a fever. Not only that, they excelled on the 2020 National College Entrance Exam. Some were in disbelief to see how high they’d scored—most of them scored higher than what they would have in class.
Dafa bestowed blessings on them after they understood the truth about Dafa and quit the CCP and its youth organizations.
