(Minghui.org) A senior engineer in Shanghai is facing trial for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yang Hui, in her 40s, began to practice Falun Gong in 2018. She was arrested as soon as she left home on November 8, 2020. The police ransacked her residence. It has been four months since she was first held at the Pudong New District Detention Center.
On February 19, 2021, seven days after the Chinese New Year, the Pudong New District Procuratorate indicted Ms. Yang on the charge of “undermining law enforcement,” a standard pretext used by the authorities to frame Falun Gong practitioners. She is now facing trial by the Pudong Court.
Ms. Yang’s persecution left her family in deep distress. Her son is only in fifth grade and her daughter is going to take her college entrance exam this year. The police constantly harassed her husband and asked him to persuade Ms. Yang not to spread any information about Falun Gong in the future.
