(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Bai Jinfang, in her 70s, from Gushan Town was called to the Dandong City Procuratorate on October 15, 2020. The officials pressured her to sign documents as part of her bail application. She then returned home.
Officials called earlier and threatened her that if she did not go to the procuratorate, her pension would be suspended.
Before the Chinese New Year, on February 12, Ms. Bai was arrested and taken to the Dandong City Detention Center. She was sentenced to seven months in prison.
Ms. Lu Fengmei, 50, was arrested on the afternoon of February 25, 2021. The police ransacked her home and confiscated a computer and a cell phone, among other personal belongings.
Ms. Fu Rong from the Haidian District was arrested at her mother’s home by officers from the Dewai Police Station, the Xicheng District, on the morning of February 24, 2021.
At that time, only she and her 88-year-old frail mother were at home. Her mother wept as she watched the police take her daughter away. Her mother was so upset that she had a heart attack.
After the police took Ms. Fu away, fearing that the old lady’s life would be in danger, they sent officers to her home to check on her. While they were there, the officers ransacked the place. Afterwards, officers took Ms. Fu to her home and ransacked the place a second time.
Ms. Fu was taken to the Xicheng District Law Enforcement Case Center. When she failed the medical exam she was released on bail on February 25.
Ms. Fu was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested by Anwai Police Station officers in the Dongcheng District on June 14, 2020. Her father, age 90, was paralyzed and bedridden. He watched the police take away the person he and his wife relied on for their care, their daughter. He became depressed, his health deteriorated, and he died a few days later. Ms. Fu was held in the Dongcheng District Detention Center for a month, then taken to the Haidian District Brainwashing Center for 20 days.
Mr. Zhou Guangxi from Lixing Village in the Jiangguantun Sub-district was arrested at the Jiangguantun farmers’ market on January 11, 2021, by Jiangguantun Police Station officers. He was detained for five days.
Ms. Liu Zufang, 80, went to Ms. Yuan Bixiu’s home a little past 8 a.m. on February 23, 2021. A police car soon arrived, and two officers grabbed Ms. Liu’s arms to prevent her from leaving.
The officers ransacked both practitioners’ homes and confiscated their Falun Dafa books. The women were arrested and taken to the High-tech Zone Police Station in Logistics Port. They were released after 6 p.m.
Ms. Liu Xiaoli received a harassment phone call on February 24. Someone also knocked on her door to harass her.
Liu Xiaoli, Tan Xiaorong, Yuan Bixiu, and Gong Shuliang were all harassed over the phone by officers from the police station at different times on February 18.
Ms. Hou Yuxin has been missing since February 23, 2021.
Ms. Wang Minghui was arrested in August 2020. She has been held in custody for six months. She was secretly tried in January 2021. The court assigned her a lawyer. She is scheduled to be tried again in early March.
According to someone released from the Shandong Women’s Prison four months ago, she saw Ms. Bi Jianhong in the prison hospital every time she went there. Ms. Bi was force-fed three times a day and has been in a wheelchair for over two years. Prisoners assigned to monitor her did not let anyone talk to her.
Elderly Ms. Wu Chuanling and her husband Mr. Li Xintang were arrested at home on July 28, 2019. The police ransacked their home and confiscated their Falun Dafa books and other personal belongings. The couple were taken to the local police station for interrogation and then taken to the Jiamusi City Detention Center.
A few months later, Mr. Li was released on bail. Ms. Wu’s case was turned over to the Xiangyang District Procuratorate and the Xiangyang District Court.
In early December 2020, the Xiangyang District Court and the Xiangyang District Procuratorate tried her in the Jiamusi Detention Center. Ms. Wu was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. She was released from the detention center after her prison term ended.
Yin Chengji (gender unknown) was sentenced to six months in prison, to be served outside prison for one year.
Officers from the Changping County 610 Office and residential community personnel repeatedly harassed Ms. Lu Meixia beginning in July 2020.
Liu Shucai from the Caishichang Community of Nankou Village often called Ms. Lu’s husband, threatening and harassing him. He convinced him to go home and argue with Ms. Lu.
A few days before the Lunar New Year (February 12, 2021), Liu went to Ms. Lu’s home and threatened that officials from the 610 Office would visit her.
The constant harassment in recent years has greatly distressed Ms. Lu and her family.
Officers from the Fuyu County Domestic Security Division have recently been going to businesses run by Falun Gong practitioners and harassing them.
Community personnel called Ms. Zhang Shuqing’s family and asked if she still practiced Falun Gong.
They threatened Ms. Zhang Yuping’s family that if she continued to practice Falun Gong, it would adversely impact her children's education.
Ms. Zhong Xiufeng was arrested by officers from the Chengnan Police Department on the morning of April 23, 2019. They slapped her face dozens of times and otherwise tortured her to try to extract a “confession.” They beat her until she passed out. She was taken to a hospital for emergency treatment. Fearing they would be held responsible, the police promptly took her to a detention center. She was held there for the entire one-year-nine-month prison term. Her son went to pick her up in late January 2021. The detention center told him he’d have to pay for a 6,000-yuan “supervision fee” or they would not release his mother Ms. Zhong.
Mr. Chen Jie is from the Weiye Residential Community in the Hudong Sub-district, Pudong New Area. His son received a call from the Hongmiao Police Station at his dormitory in the Fengxian School of Electronics on the afternoon of February 28, 2021. The police asked for his home address and his father’s phone number.
Mr. Chen had taken his son back to school earlier that afternoon.
Mr. Feng Jiwu is due to be released from prison at the end of March 2021.
He did not cooperate with their efforts to “transform” him, and his family and others have not heard anything from him for over five months. Fanjiatai Prison does not allow family visits or phone calls due to the epidemic. No further information on his current situation is available.
Ms. Yao Weimin was arrested by Shishan Police Station officers on the evening of August 20, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was released on bail the following evening.
Her case was turned over to the Wujiang Procuratorate in November.
Wuzhong District 610 Office head Zhang Zhenhua, He Xiaodi, and six or seven others set up a brainwashing class in November to “transform” Ms. Yao.
A week after her case was submitted to the Wujiang Court, the court issued an arrest warrant to take her into custody. The police decided to arrest her on February 28, 2021.
On the afternoon of February 27, Ms. Yao went to the police station to look for case handler Wang Wei to clarify the facts to him about Falun Gong. She was arrested by other officers. It was reported that she needed to stay at the police station for a few days for a physical exam.
