(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 44 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Che Guo (gender unknown) will be tried in the Heihe Intermediate Court at 9:30 a.m. on March 23, 2021. Human rights lawyer Mao Hongwei will defend Che in court and plea not guilty on her behalf.
Seven practitioners from Wuchang District were arrested on the morning of March 11, 2021. Four of them were released shortly afterward. The following is the situation of the other three.
Ms. Zhou Yuying, 83, has been taken home by her family members and staff members from Huatengyuan Community.
Ms. Liu, 71, was said to be taken back by the personnel of the sub-district where her registered permanent residence is. It is unknown whether she has returned home or not.
The case against Ms. Tong Li has been filed to the Procuratorate. Her home was ransacked. Her personal belongings, including a computer and a printer, were confiscated. According to the officers participating in the home raid, her home is a place where practitioners meet to read the Falun Gong teachings, and the site has been monitored by police for three years.
Ms. Lu Lifang’s family members have received harassing phone calls since last December. Her husband and her adult child received several harassing calls from the local community office in February and March 2021. Ms. Lu was told to sign a three statements document, otherwise be sent to a brainwashing center or reported to the local police station. They also came to her home to harass her and to brainwash her.
Ms. Jiang Xiaohui works in the Yulong Industrial Co., Ltd, Liaohe Oilfield. She was harassed by the people in her workplace who were being pressured by the Panjin Police Department. Ms. Jiang was ordered to sign the three statements document, otherwise lose her job and face a jail sentence.
The case against Ms. Han Yanli was filed with the Heshan District Court in Yiyang City.
A brainwashing session is going to be held by Yushu City Political and Legal Affairs Committee. It was heard that the affiliated branches in the countryside have started to look for steadfast practitioners and take them to the so-called “Law Study Class” that will last for seven days.
Ms. Chen Shujie works in the Yushu Maternal and Children Health Hospital. Under the instruction of Dong Yuji, deputy of the Yushu City Health Bureau, Shao Shuai, head of the Discipline and Inspection Section in the hospital, and Liang Ying, director of the Nursing Department, came to talk to Ms. Chen. They told Ms. Chen to participate in the seven-day class and claimed that she would no longer be harassed if she did.
Ms. Zhang Xiuying and her husband from Caolu Town, Pudong District drove to Yangyuan to participate in a banquet held by their relative on March 13, 2021. Several officers came as soon as they had parked their car. They searched Ms. Zhang’s husband and attempted to arrest her. Their relatives stopped the police from doing this.
Mr. Chen Zhongguo from Guangxing District was arrested on March 18, 2021, and his home was ransacked. It was said that the police took many belongings from his home and even arrested his non-practitioner wife.
Ten practitioners were arrested on the morning of March 18, 2021, and taken to the Jiahe Police Station, including Ms. Xi Daoying, Ms. Zhang Zhengbi, Ms. Chen Rong, Mr. Wang Qijun, Ms. Hou Suhua, Ms. Zhang Suzhen, Ms. Peng Guanghua, He Zaibi (gender unknown), Yang Rong (gender unknown), and Wang Biying (gender unknown). Their homes were ransacked, and their Dafa books, photos of Falun Gong's founder, and media players were confiscated.
Three practitioners, Ms. Xi Daoying, Ms. Zhang Zhenbi, and Ms. Zhang Suzhen, were taken to the Yongxing Detention House. The rest were released at around 7:00 p.m., that day.
Ms. Li, in her 70s, was arrested near the old railway station around March 15, 2021.
Ms. Guo Yonghong was recently harassed at home several times by people from the Chunhuili Sub-district Office, Dagang District, Dagang. They contacted her adult child’s work unit. Her child was threatened to be expelled from public office if Ms. Guo refused to sign the three statements document.
Ms. Liu Mingying, 74, and Ms. Wan Zhengping, 68, will be tried in the Kaijiang County Court at 2:30 p.m. on March 23, 2021.
Three practitioners, Mr. Zhong Jianhua, Dong Yulin (gender unknown), and Mr. Zhao Ximin’s wife, from Huzhu Village of Wukeshu Town, were taken to a brainwashing center in Yushu City on March 15 or 16, 2021. Four other practitioners were harassed at the same time, including Mr. Zhang Fengjun from Liujia Village, Ms. Wang Yulan from Xianfeng Township, and Mr. Zhang Jun and his wife Ms. Zhu Liru from Tiebei Village.
Ms. Zhu Xiyu was released from prison a few months ago. Since her pension of more than 200,000 yuan was suspended by the social security division, she filed an appeal. Ms. Zhu is now missing. More details have yet to be investigated.
Mr. Su Weiquan from Lintou Town, Dianbai District was harassed at home on the afternoon of March 19, 2021. A group of police officers led by the head of the town discipline committee came to his home. They tore off two couplets with the words “Dafa” and “Lotus.”
Ms. Han Shufen is missing. The details are unknown.
Ms. Mo Huiping, 45, was subjected to three years of forced labor and two jail sentences of three and a half years and four years.
Three plainclothes officers from the Yuanyi Police Station in Huinong District came to Ms. Mo’s older sister’s home on the afternoon of March 16, 2021. They were wearing body cameras. They asked for Ms. Mo’s information while recording what was said. Ms. Mo ran into these people when she came to deliver something to her sister. These people were not wearing uniforms and did not show their IDs. They told Ms. Mo to go with them to the local police station, which she refused. They called the 110 emergency number and two officers from the Xihuayuan Police Station came. They tried to force Ms. Mo into the police car. Ms. Mo, her sister, and her brother-in-law reasoned with them. The officers finally left after they got Ms. Mo’s contact information.
Ms. Yin Lanhua was taken to the Jilin Province Women's Prison on March 10, 2021, after her appeal against the wrongful sentence was rejected by the Liaoyuan City Intermediate Court on December 24, 2020.
Ms. Yin was arrested on July 6, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was sentenced to a four-year prison term and fined 20,000 yuan around December 2020.
Two practitioners were arrested with her. Mr. Yue Changyou was sentenced to two years with a 10,000 yuan fine, and Ms. Ji Fengxia was sentenced to one year with two years probation and a 5,000 yuan fine. The two also appealed the verdicts, but the appeals were rejected.
Ms. Ren Xiulan, in her 70s, was arrested on March 7, 2020 and later sentenced to 3.5 years by the Zhanqian District Court. She was taken to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on March 5, 2021.
Mr. Zhang Chunqiu, 58, was arrested on December 6, 2019. He was tried by the Louxing District Court on June 11, 2020, and later sentenced to prison. He appealed the verdict with the Loudi City Intermediate Court, but his appeal was rejected. He was recently transferred to the Wangling Prison.
Mr. Cheng Furong and his wife Ms. Liang Fengying, owners of a small Chinese medicine clinic, were arrested on March 9, 2020 for distributing information about Falun Gong. Although they were released on bail on September 9 after six months of detention, the police took them back into custody on December 31, 2020 during the “Zero-out” harassment campaign. Both were recently sentenced to one year in prison.
As part of the “Zero-out” campaign, many Falun Gong practitioners in Hohhot were followed, monitored, harassed, and intimidated. Some were fired by their workplaces, had their salaries suspended, or were taken to brainwashing centers. Some practitioners’ families were also implicated.
