(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Hui Tried in Court

Ms. Zhang Hui was reported to police for distributing truth-clarifying materials in the Lishui Jiayuan Community. She was arrested by officers from the Xigang Road Police Station on March 2, 2022 and sent to a detention center. She was placed under residential surveillance after she was released on March 12, 2022 due to her poor health.

Ms. Zhang was tried in the Funing District Court on December 9, 2022. The prosecutor charged her based on the eight copies of truth-clarifying materials and proposed to sentence her to six months in prison.

2. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] The Case Against Ms. Zhao Ying Submitted to the Court

Ms. Zhao Ying’s bag was snatched on the street and she was taken to the Tangxia Police Station on April 26, 2021. Because of her poor health, the detention center refused to admit her three times in three days. She was taken to No. 8 Hospital for 10 days and was finally taken to the detention center on May 11, 2022. Ms. Zhao was released on bail pending trial at midnight, on May 14, 2022.

Ms. Zhao was informed on December 8, 2022 that her case was submitted to the Haizhu District Court.

3. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wei Qingjun and His Wife Ms. Meng Qinglan Arrested

Mr. Wei Qingjun and his wife Ms. Meng Qinglan were arrested by officers from the Huibin Police Station in the Kangqiao District on December 8, 2022. Their home was ransacked. They were taken to the Panshan County Detention Center.

4. [Yongji County, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Shuqing Arrested and Detained

Ms. Sun Shuqing was arrested a month ago. She is currently detained in the Shulan Detention Center.

5. [Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province] The Cases Against Ms. Zhu Yunxia and Ms. Lin Fengying Submitted to the Procuratorate

The cases against Ms. Zhu Yunxia and Ms. Lin Fengying were submitted to the Lianshui County Procuratorate on December 8, 2022.

6. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Xueya Harassed

Five officers from the Gan County Police Department went to the store that Ms. Zhang Xueya’s son owned on the afternoon of August 17, 2022. They did not show their IDs and confiscated Ms. Zhang’s cell phone and her bag. They then went to Ms. Zhang’s place and confiscated a laptop, a printer, her Falun Gong books, and other items.

The next morning, the police went to Ms. Zhang’s hometown in Maling Village, Liquan County. They confiscated a computer, her Falun Gong books, the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and other items.

Ms. Zhang and her husband Mr. Zhao Xiaoning have now left home to avoid further persecution.

7. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Yongying and Ms. Xiong Huaying Arrested

Ms. Liu Yongying was arrested on the morning of December 8, 2022. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Liu was released that evening.

Ms. Xiong Huaying, 77, was arrested by plainclothes officers when she talked about Falun Gong near Shengli Road around 10 a.m. on December 8, 2022. It is unknown where she is detained.

8. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Guo Yurong Arrested and Detained

Ms. Guo Yurong from the Dongpo District was arrested on October 10, 2022. She was first detained in the Pengshan Detention Center and then the Meishan Detention Center. Ms. Guo refused to cooperate during her detention. Her family was told on November 18, 2022 that Ms. Guo would be released and placed under 6 months of residential surveillance.

9. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chu Qinghua Arrested

Mr. Chu Qinghua was arrested after he went to the Taibaozhuang Street Police Station to renew his ID card on December 5, 2022. His home was ransacked. They confiscated two photos of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, USB drives, his cell phone, etc. Mr. Chu managed to escape.

10. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Ma Fuying Released after Seven Years in Prison

Ms. Ma Fuying from Hui County was released on October 26, 2022 after being imprisoned for seven years.

Ms. Ma was detained in the No. 5 Women’s Prison of Henan Province. Because she refused to be brainwashed, she was not allowed to eat or go to the bathroom for four months. She was frequently beaten by the inmates. Ms. Ma was very weak when she was released.

11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Chunxiao Harassed

Officers from the Jiaojie Town Police Station in Acheng District went to Mr. Li Chunxiao’s home at the end of September 2022. No one was there. The police confiscated one Falun Gong book. They later returned and took more books.

Four people, including the head of the Jiaojie Town government and police officers, went to Mr. Li Chunxiao’s home in mid-November 2022. They forcibly pressed his fingerprints on some documents.

12. [Beijing] Hu Jinfeng Arrested

Hu Jinfeng from the Changping District was arrested and taken to the Shunyi District Detention Center on July 27, 2022. Hu Jinfeng was handcuffed from the back and was interrogated for eight consecutive days. Hu was placed under official arrest on November 2, 2022.

13. [Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Zhilian Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison and Persecuted to Death

Ms. Li Zhilian, 68, was arrested at home by officers from the Doumen Police Department on the afternoon of July 12, 2019. She was bailed out later.

Ms. Li was arrested again on September 25, 2021. She was detained in the No.1 Detention Center. During her detention, she was forced to sit on a cold bench every day, which damaged her health. Ms. Li was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Xiangzhou District Court at the end of March 2022.

Ms. Li was dying. Her family was contacted on June 6, 2022 and told that she was in the Zhuhai City People’s Hospital. They took her home. Two days later, Ms. Li passed away at the age of 68.
