(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhang Qiaoxiu and her niece Ms. Wang Meiqi were arrested by officers from the Liuhe County Police Department and taken to the Tonghua City Detention Center on April 20, 2021. They were arrested for rescuing Ms. Zhang Qiaolei, who is Ms. Meiqi’s persecuted mother, and Ms. Qiaoxiu’s younger sister. Ms. Qiaoxiu and Ms. Meiqi were both sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan (approximately 800 USD). Ms. Qiaoxiu was taken to the Jilin Women’s Prison on December 2, 2021, and Ms. Meiqi was sent to the same prison on January 17, 2022.
Ms. Meiqi was scheduled to defend her dissertation for a bachelor’s degree from May 8 to May 12, 2021. The school authorities called Jiang Hui, the head of the Domestic Security Division of the Liuhe County Police Department, and requested permission for Ms. Meiqi to attend her dissertation defense. Without a defense, she won’t be able to get her bachelor’s diploma. Jiang Hui refused the request. As a result, Ms. Meiqi did not get her diploma after attending university for 4 years. She also cannot attend graduate studies even though she passed the graduate admission tests.
Ms. Li Yuzhen was sent to the Heilongjiang Women’s Prison on January 7, 2022.
Ms. Guo Enhui, in her 70s, was sentenced to one year and fined 2,000 yuan (approximately $315 USD) on February 15, 2022, by the Shushan District Court.
Ms. Zhu Mingrong was arrested when she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong to a student on October 24, 2021. It is not known where she is being held.
Guo Danhua, the judge in charge of Ms. Liu Hongxia’s case, ordered that Ms. Liu’s defense lawyer must file records at the Dalian City Bureau of Justice in order to defend Ms. Liu. In order to stop Ms. Liu’s family from defending Ms. Liu at the courthouse during her trial on March 2, Guo notified the police station to take back the criminal records previously issued to Ms. Liu’s family members.
Elderly Mr. Zhuang was arrested on February 14, 2022. His home was searched the same day and two computers were seized. Mr. Zhuang was held in the Bin County Detention Center for 15 days.
Ms. Lu, 52, was arrested on February 16, 2022.
Officers including Cao from the Zhongshan Police Department broke open the door and charged into Ms. Fang’s home on February 21, 2022. They ransacked the place and took Ms. Fang and her daughter to the Haijun Square Police Station. Ms. Fang’s daughter was released that evening.
Mr. Chen Shouchang was reported to the police for posting informational stick-on labels about Falun Gong on January 23, 2022. Village Party secretary Xu Yongpu video recorded Mr. Chen and reported him to the police. Two days later, 4 or 5 officers from the town police station barged into Mr. Chen’s home and arrested him and his wife. Some of his Falun Gong books were seized. Mr. Chen and his wife were released that afternoon.
Agents from the Jiangdong New Zone Police Station and the Biguiyuan Neighborhood Committee went to Ms. Huang Cailan’s home around July 1, 2021, but did not see Ms. Huang. A week later, they still did not see Ms. Huang. So they began going to Ms. Huang’s home every day, waiting by her door, and near the elevator at the ground level, so Ms. Huang could not escape. When they learned that Ms. Huang was home, they had the security guard at her residential quarters turn off the electricity and water supply. Ms. Huang’s elder brother and younger brother were deceived by the lies from the Chinese Communist Party propaganda and helped persecute Ms. Huang. Ms. Huang had no choice but to leave her home.
Ms. Lu, about 50 years old, was arrested around February 16, 2022, when she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong and giving out informational materials on the street. Details are being investigated.
Ms. Mu Guiqiu was arrested by officers from the Kaiping Police Station on the morning of February 20, 2022, when she was raising awareness of the persecution at the Kaiping Market Place. She was released at noon.
Ms. Ye Daiqiong, 84, was threatened by 9 agents from the 610 Office and the National Security Bureau who barged into her home on May 19, 2021. They seized over 40 Falun Gong books from Ms. Ye. She refused to follow their orders and her son also tried to protect her. She was able to avoid being arrested because her son defended her.
Ms. Yu, in her 70s, and her non-practitioner husband Mr. Tang, were also arrested on the same day. Their home was ransacked and over 30 Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong's founder were seized.
Ren Chaohua, an agent from the Yixuejie Community Office, went to Ms. Yuan Quanzhen’s home to take a photograph of her on January 12, 2022. Ms. Yuan told Ren the facts about Falun Gong. Ren took a photo of Ms. Yuan’s back and hurriedly left.
Ms. Yuan was reported to the police in December 2021 when she was distributing new year calendars with information about Falun Gong written on them. Agents from the community office and police station escorted Ms. Yuan to her home and ransacked it. They brought her to the police station and recorded what she said. They released her afterward.
Ms. Yuan is in her 70s and lives by herself. The harassment caused her tremendous pressure and worries.
Local police stations in various areas of Yinan County focused in harassing local practitioners before the Chinese new year (February 1, 2022). Officers from the Andi Police Station went to Fengjiazhuang Village many times to harass Mr. Feng Shanghao and his son Mr. Feng Wenlong and seized their Falun Gong books. As officers planned to arrest them, the father and son had no choice but to leave home to avoid the arrest. Mr. Feng Shanghao lived outdoors in wind and snow for 2 days and 2 nights. He was weak when he returned home. Mr. Feng Wenlong’s whereabouts are unknown. He probably has not returned home yet.
