(Minghui.org) Many people in China exhibit a bad temper, and don’t mind fighting with others. They do not encourage their children when they educate them, but criticize them instead. By the time a child grows up their mind is filled with resentment and hatred. For a practitioner, I believe it is most important for us eliminate the attachment to resentment.
I encountered many tribulations in the process of getting rid of resentment. Everything I tried was challenging, complicated and another opportunity to cultivate myself.
I was a key technical person at work. I made a lot of effort to set up a production line to produce escalators in 2012. If we were able to meet the production goal, their would be less overtime to pay and the company would make more money.
But to assure the workers that they wouldn't lose the additional money they made by working overtime, the workshop manager encouraged them to work slowly, miss the production goal, and work overtime. I knew this was wrong, but I felt helpless and that I could not do anything.
I participated in a training course in 2014. To complete the course would have been a great honor. However, as part of the course, I was told to improve the production line. I worked hard for a few months and made many improvements to the line. But, when it was time to evaluate the production results, I was faced with the same problem. The workshop manager still refused to cooperate.
I was so angry that I thought of quitting. I tried to enlighten based on Falun Dafa’s teachings, but I was not successful. In the end I decided that I would quit if I could not finish the course.
The situation took a dramatic turn at the last moment. The workshop manager was fired for pressuring workers to bribe him. The division head took over the duties of the workshop manager. We easily met the production goal when we did the test again.
I finished my course successfully and was promoted to a director. However, I feel that because I did not pass the tribulation by elevating my xinxing, the tribulations continued. Everything I tried to do was challenging—but I did not have to quit my job.
The situation changed when our company was awarded a new contract. I was the main person responsible for the project. It lasted for a few months and we encountered many obstacles.
When the project reached a certain milestone, the contractor needed to be paid. We had only two hours to complete the process. This time, I was clearheaded. I reminded myself: no matter how chaotic things appeared I should not complain. As a practitioner I must accomplish this.
I began to apply for the payment. Suddenly the payment software experienced problems. The tribulations began again. This time I did not complain. But half, an hour passed, and there was only 30 minutes left for me to make the payment. The payment needed the department manager’s signature. He was in a meeting. I could not interrupt him, so I just waited calmly.
Luckily the manager showed up. The next step was for the division head to sign. He was also in a meeting. I waited again. At this time the division head came back to get his hat. I rushed over and got his signature..
The last step was to collect all the receipts for the expenses and turn them in. I was in a hurry, so I did it myself and did not ask the clerk for help. I took the receipts to the financial department, only to be told that they were not arranged properly. I ran back to the clerk and asked her for help. She helped. and we finally managed to make the payment at the last moment.
I was very happy, because during the two hour ordeal, I handled the problems like a practitioner. I calmly handled the difficulties with a smile. I understood the complications were helping me eliminate my attachment to complaining.
After this incident practitioners commented that my change was dramatic, “You look radiant.” I said, “Yes, I feel different too.” For a long time before this I looked pale and unhealthy.
I had a huge improvement in my xinxing since then. When I was faced with big tribulations, I remained calm. All the tribulations disappeared one after another.
The management assigned me a task which I believed was impossible to accomplish. But, I reminded myself to not complain, and not be moved. So I just put down my tendency to complain and worked on it. In the end, either the task was canceled, or the management lost interest in it.
The situation was similar to a fellow practitioner’s dream. He dreamed he was flying. When a mountain blocked him, he was not affected and kept flying. The mountain vanished. Then a door appeared in front of him. Again, he was not affected and kept flying, the door opened when he got close. Then, he faced a wall. He held fear and wondered, “Can I pass through it?” As soon as he had this thought he could not pass through the wall.
As a matter of fact, we encounter some tribulations to see if we are affected. If we can remain unaffected, nothing will happen. If you are affected, then you will have constant troubles.
Many people have resentment even though they have no specific target to blame. One just feels unlucky, but does not know who to blame. Some people blame heaven, feeling that their fate in life is unfair. This is even worse. Blaming people is being dissatisfied because someone took advantage of you, but blaming heaven is disrespectful to divine beings. Some tribulations are arranged by them to help people eliminate karma, but most people just don't understand this.
Now I am no longer so “unlucky.” Unpleasant things still occur occasionally. But I do not complain much. My attachment to resentment and complaining does not seem to exist any longer. I think of what Master said about when Qi goes to the top of the head in Zhuan Falun.
Master said:
“The more you fear it, the more it will appear like a sickness. This attachment of yours must be removed. You will be made to learn from this lesson so that you can remove your fear and improve.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
Thank you Master for your careful arrangements to help me eliminate my problem of blaming other people. By looking inward I have improved and eliminated many attachments.
