(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 32 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Nine practitioners in Wendeng District, Weihai City were tried by the Rongcheng City Court on August 24, 2023. The practitioners are: Ms. Tian Lisha, Ms. Li Shuhong, Ms. Qu Aiping, Mr. Zhang Yingming, Ms. Liu Mingming, Mr. Xu Changqing, Mr. Cong Xu, Ms. Lian Qingling, and Ms. Jiang Changmin. Mr. Xu Changqing and his son Mr. Cong Xu have not been home for more than a week, and their whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Gao Xiu’e was arrested by officers from the Puji Police Station in June 2021. She was detained and later released on bail.
Ms. Gao was arrested and taken to a detention center by officers from the Puji Police Station in September 2023. She failed the physical examination and the detention center refused to accept her. The officers took her back to the police station but refused to release her. She has remained in custody. The police station turned her case over to the Huangdao District Procuratorate for prosecution.
Ms. Xu Na, Mr. Li Lixin, and several other practitioners were transferred to Tianhe Prison in Beijing in mid-September 2023.
Mr. Xia Mingjin was arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong on September 19, 2023. His home was ransacked and he is held in the Nanchang City No. 1 Detention Center.
Ms. Tang Yunxia was arrested at Dongmen Market in mid-September 2023. Further details about her situation are not available.
Mr. Xiong Huiyi and his wife from Pengzhou City were recently taken to their village entertainment center and told to give up practicing Falun Gong. When Mr. Xiong and his wife refused to comply they were released.
Ms. Shen Genmei from Nanhui District was entering the ticket gate of the Hongqiao High-speed Railway Station on August 9, 2023, when security guards checked her bag and took her into custody.
Afterwards, officers from the Hongqiao Police Station ransacked Ms. Shen’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. They took 1,000 yuan in cash and have not returned it yet.
Ms. Qiu Xiuping’s home in Gurao Town, Chaoyang District, was ransacked by local police on September 21, 2023. Ms. Qiu was not at home. Her three daughters were summoned to the police station.
Ms. Wang Xiuqin, in her 80s, was arrested in August 2023 for mailing Falun Gong materials to the Propaganda Department of the Fujian Province Chinese Communist Party Committee. She was held in custody for over a month. Her specific situation is unknown.
Ms. Zhang Xiaoling, 39, from Gurao Town, Chaoyang District, was sentenced to three years in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong in 2016.
On September 21, 2023, Ms. Zhang was blocked by unidentified plainclothes people at her home. Her second sister was there and refused to open the door for them. At this time, Ms. Zhang and her family members who live with her cannot be reached. It is likely that they have been arrested.
Ms. Wu Qiuqin was released on bail by the Hudai Police Station on March 18, 2023.
On September 21, Ms. Wu noticed that a stranger stood in front of her home and watched her. On the morning of September 22, she saw this person again. Ms. Wu confronted the person and said, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner.” The person said, “Well, I am doing whatever they pay me to do. I thought you were being watched for visiting organizations responsible for addressing grievances.” Four people took turns following Ms. Wu.
Ms. Zhang Baolin, Ms. Feng Sujuan, and Ms. Chen Pingfang from Baiguo Town, Macheng City, were harassed at home on the afternoon of September 20, 2023.
Three officers from the Baiguo Police Station, along, with members of the Baiguo Neighborhood Committee, broke into Ms. Zhang’s home. They upset Ms. Zhang’s 84-year-old mother-in-law, who was ill; afterwards, her condition worsened.
Mr. Zeng Qinghua, about 70, from Longxing Town, was recently arrested by officers from the Longxing Town Police Station.
Ms. Liu Fengyun was arrested by officers from the Jiaobei Police Station on September 21, 2023. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and a printer. Ms. Liu was released at 6 p.m. that night.
Ms. Zhu Lanying was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of September 10, 2023. Officers from the Damafang Police Station in the High-tech Zone took the key to Ms. Zhu’s electric bicycle. Ms. Zhu escaped.
The police tracked her down through her electric bike license plate number. Around 10 a.m. on March 13, more than ten officers from the Baoding City Police Department, the High-tech Zone Police Department, and the Damafang Police Station ransacked Ms. Zhu’s home and confiscated a new laptop, a complete set of Falun Gong books, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Zhu was taken to the police station. After the officers finished transcribing the interrogation and giving her a physical examination, she was taken to the Qingyuan Detention Center around 9 p.m.
On September 19, Ms. Zhu returned home from the detention center. It was reported that Ms. Zhu’s son had to pay the police a large sum of money before they released her.
When Ms. You Quanfang of Li’an Village, Tianpeng Sub-district, returned to her parents’ home on the afternoon of September 21, 2023, the village Party secretary went to her parents’ home with two other people. They said the police were on their way. Ms. You left to avoid being persecuted.
Ms. Pei Changqiong from Hepu County was cooking when a group of police officers broke into her home on July 8, 2023. They rummaged through the house and confiscated all her Falun Gong books. They threatened her and said, “You are not allowed to practice Falun Gong! It is against the law to practice. It will result in five days of administrative detention.”
Ms. Yang Jiali was arrested and her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Qiu Yuqin from Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province, went to her daughter’s home in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, in July 2023. Ms. Qiu was recently arrested at her daughter’s home by officers from Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province.
Ms. Chen Yan and her daughter Ms. Cao Yueling were arrested and sentenced to prison between 2016 and 2017. After Ms. Cao was released from prison, she was forced to divorce and had no source of income. She returned to her mother’s home in Fushun City.
On August 24, 2020, Ms. Cao was arrested at Taoxian Airport in Shenyang City when she was heading from her mother’s home in Fushun to visit her twin sons in Shanghai. She was sentenced to another three years and sent to Liaoning Women’s Prison.
Her mother Ms. Chen was also arrested while seeking her release, and was sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. Chen was held in Liaoning Women’s Prison.
Ms. Cao returned home on August 23, 2023 after serving three years in prison. On September 20, 2023, Ms. Chen returned home after serving three years in prison. After Ms. Chen returned home, she was harassed by officers from the Leifeng Police Station.
