(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Xu Zhen’s verdict was upheld by the Nanchang City Intermediate Court during the second instance trial, and she was taken to Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison around November 14, 2023.
Ms. Xu was arrested in March 2023. She was severely abused while in custody, which resulted in serious illnesses and her being taken to the hospital several times for treatment.
On September 28, 2023, Ms. Xu was tried by the Xihu District Court, sentenced to three and a half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Her lawyer appealed to the Nanchang City Intermediate Court, which upheld the original verdict.
Chen Wen (gender unknown), 29, from Hubei Province, was arrested in Tiananmen Square in Beijing on November 19, 2023. Chen’s whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Yang Furong was arrested by officers from the Anlu City Domestic Security Division and the Wangyizhen Police Station on November 15, 2023. On November 18 she was taken to Changsong Brainwashing Center, where she developed high blood pressure and numbness in her limbs. She was secretly transferred to Pu’ai Hospital and was hospitalized.
The Anlu City 610 Office and the city’s police department did not release her, nor did they notify her family. Her family learned of Ms. Yang’s current situation indirectly.
Ms. Zhou Huali and Ms. Hou Hui went to the Shapingba District Border Exit Bureau around 4 p.m. on October 30, 2023, to retrieve Ms. Zhou’s national ID card that had been left there that morning. However, the staff at the Border Exit Bureau not only refused to return her ID card, but called a group of police officers to arrest the two practitioners. The two practitioners were taken to the police station affiliated with the Border Exit Bureau for interrogation.
Ms. Zhou and Ms. Hou were taken to the police station where their household registration was on file, for further interrogation.
Ms. Hou has been released by the Nanqiaosi Police Station where her household registration is on file, but her personal belongings, including her cell phone, residence keys and access cards have been withheld by the police. Ms. Hou cannot return to her home.
Several officers from a police station ordered Mr. Dai Yongmao to sign paperwork on November 16, 2023. Mr. Dai’s home was ransacked two months ago.
On the afternoon of November 23, 2023, officers from a police station called Ms. Luo Yufen’s family and ordered her to go to the police station. Her family refused to follow the police order.
The Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court upheld, in early October 2023, the original second instance verdicts against eight practitioners.
Ms. He Hongyan and Ms. Liu Xiaomiao were taken to the Hebei Province Women’s Prison on October 18. Ms. Jiao Yaqin, Ms. Liu Yuru, and Ms. Tian Xuan are still being held in the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center. Mr. Du Guofang was taken to Jidong Prison on October 17. Ms. Ma Tongxin returned home from the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center on November 16. Mr. Liu Chengwu returned home from the Jinzhou City Detention Center on November 16.
Ms. Yi Xiaoqin was arrested without cause on July 10, 2019. The police later said that they arrested her by mistake. However, the officers still persecuted her. On December 12, 2020, Ms. Yi was tried and sentenced to six and a half years in prison.
On July 9, 2023, Ms. Yi returned home safely from the Liaoning Province No. 2 Women’s Prison.
The Caihong Police Station in Longsha District harassed Ms. Li Lamei and Ms. Li Dongmei on November 22, 2023, and ordered them to go to the police station to sign some paperwork. Two officers went to Ms. Li Lamei’s home. They did not present any identification cards. They opened the cabinet doors, rummaged through things, and took away an incense burner and a single-sheet calendar.
Ms. Bai Yushu from Fuping County was followed by Liu Bin and a plainclothes officer named Zhang from the police department when she talked to people about Falun Gong and handed out New Year’s calendars on November 17, 2023. Officer Zhang took a calendar from the home of a person who had just received one from Ms. Bai. Zhang also took five calendars from the bag on the electric bicycle Ms. Bai was riding. The police tried to enter Ms. Bai’s home, but could not. The two officers threatened to break the locks and ransack the place.
Seven or eight officers from the Dalinghe Police Department in Linghai City went to Ms. Wei Xiuying’s home in the Jincheng Sub-district, Linghai City, around 10:30 a.m. on November 22, 2023. They forcibly pushed her into an ambulance that had arrived there with them. They claimed that they would give her a physical examination.
Around 6 p.m. that evening, Ms. Wei returned home. Officer Wang Yi got out of the car and carried Ms. Wei upstairs. Ms. Wei was seen barefooted and wearing only a single shirt. The examination report from the hospital indicated that Ms. Wei had failed six tests, and her blood pressure was as high as 230 mm Hg. The police did not allow her family to accompany her to the hospital. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Ms. Lu Sumin of Shijingshan District was tried for the first time by the Shijingshan District Court on November 20, 2023. There was no verdict. The court said she had to wait for a couple of days before the next hearing would be held, the specific time of which is not yet known.
Ms. Sun Chengrong, from Songjiazhuang Village, Shanqiandian Town, Laiyang City, has been persecuted several times. She was arrested in September this year and is currently being held in the Fushan Detention Center. Further information is pending.
