(Minghui.org) I would like to share a couple of stories that helped me gain a deeper understanding of what Master said,
“A good or bad outcome comes from one thought.” (The Fourth Talk, Zhuan Falun)
This principle, when applied properly, will speed up the process of overcoming difficulties and breaking through interference with our truth clarification.
While distributing truth-clarification brochures a few days ago, I twisted my ankle on a bumpy road. I felt a sharp pain. The first thing that came to my mind wasn’t the old forces’ interference or any human notions, but “a good or bad outcome comes from one thought.” I silently repeated, “My ankle is fine. It’s fine.” Within a minute, my ankle felt perfectly fine. It was the fastest I have ever recovered from any physical discomfort.
I experienced some false symptoms of allergies, including sneezing and a runny nose. I had started doing the second exercise at the time, though I felt exhausted and couldn’t stand firmly. Human notions came to my mind. I doubted if I could finish doing the exercises. But I remembered how quickly my ankle felt better a few days ago. I told myself, “I’m fine.”
While repeating “I’m fine,” I couldn’t suppress my human notions. The allergy symptoms had appeared pretty often recently, so I didn’t expect them to disappear right away, because they hadn’t occurred abruptly. My habitual thinking and the notion of “seeing is believing” blocked me from any expectation of an immediate result.
Reflecting on the difference between my thoughts in these two instances, I found that my judgment that the allergy symptoms wouldn’t disappear immediately was a typical human notion. Divine beings wouldn’t think this way. I have used the extrapolation of Dafa principles to solve many problems. Why did I treat these two false appearances so differently?
I was pretty sure that the principle of “a good or bad outcome comes from one thought” could be applied to every test in our cultivation. My mind became clear after this reassurance. I found that we may not dare to think in a certain way, because we were blocked by our stubborn postnatal notions. Dafa is actually so profound and omnipotent, but manifestations won’t be displayed until we recognize the boundless power of the Fa.
Master has told us,
“You can achieve any spiritual heights if you have the guts!” (“Fa Teaching at the 2019 New York Fa Conference”)
So many notions and disbeliefs stand between human thoughts and divine thoughts. I decided to stand firmly with righteous thoughts and to not follow the lead of the discomfort. (When I habitually followed the feeling of discomfort, I couldn’t stand straight.) The moment that I firmly believed that I was fine, something amazing happened. The standing stance became easier and easier as time went by. All the terrible allergy symptoms completely disappeared. I was restored to the best condition I could have.
When I read the paragraph about “a good or bad outcome comes from one thought” in the past, I gained limited understanding about the application of this principle, applying it to something like car accidents or other sudden danger. As a matter of fact, the principle is so profound. It can be applied in any situation. In order for good thoughts to surface, we need to let go of all human notions that block us from having a strong belief. Most of these notions are related to “seeing is believing” or other habitual perceptions.
Based on my understanding, our belief about being fine actually strengthens our righteous thoughts, which is supernormal. Humans do have illnesses and have to go through the course of illness and suffer the symptoms. However, Master has taught us the great law, and told us to transcend what is human and head toward the divine. When we switch our human thoughts to divine thoughts, aren’t we supernormal in our minds already?
Master said,
“...matter and mind are one and the same.” (The First Talk, Zhuan Falun)
The moment we think we are fine, the thought creates matter in another dimension that makes us fine. As we continue to reinforce this matter, aren’t we reinforcing the energy of the matter created with righteous thoughts? And Dafa will naturally manifest its supernormal power because our state of mind conforms with the criteria of the Fa at that level. We all know that the thoughts of gods can create a universe, but we haven’t stepped out of our human notions after being restricted for so long. Our stubborn notions have caused difficulties in our cultivation. We struggle with false appearances. Some practitioners have even lost their lives. It’s indeed dangerous if we don’t improve our understanding.
Some practitioners may say that they couldn’t accomplish this because they haven’t cultivated to that level. It’s not true. Our cultivation is different from any of the previous forms of cultivation. We cultivate according to the great law of the universe. With profound backgrounds, we followed Master to this world. And we have the unique opportunity of being saved by Master himself. Master has given us divine power and wisdom. All we need to do is to let go of human notions and attachments and devote ourselves to saving sentient beings. How could the false appearance of physical discomfort shackle the future enlightened beings of the new universe? Many articles on Minghui have stories about practitioners turning things around with righteous thoughts.
Casting away restrictive human notions and switching to divine thoughts is what we should accomplish through continuous cultivation. Many practitioners have wasted precious time with the false appearance of sickness karma and can’t put full effort into saving sentient beings. We need to use the key of “a good or bad outcome comes from one thought” to break through these tribulations. We can’t allow human notions to block our innate character or our path toward the divine.
The above is my limited understanding. Please point out anything inappropriate.
