(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 40 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Li Debiao Sentenced to Prison
Mr. Li Debiao, 58, was arrested in November 2020 for talking to people about Falun Gong online. He was sentenced to four years in prison from November 20, 2020 to November 19, 2024. He is currently detained in the No.10 Ward, Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai City.
2. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yu Yingzhu Hospitalized
Ms. Yu Yingzhu was taken to the No. 4 Detention Center of Changsha City from the Shifeng District Police Station by officers from the Tiaoma Police Station in Yuhua District of Changsha City at midnight on March 29, 2023. She was supposed to be detained for three days but she has now been there for more than 12 days. Ms. Yu’s life is in life danger. She was taken to a hospital in Changsha City.
3. [Xichang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Luo Mingchun Detained in Prison
Ms. Luo Mingchun’s parent received a call from a prison guard in the No. 2 Ward, Sichuan Province Women’s Prison in Chengdu on the afternoon of April 10, 2023. They were informed that Ms. Luo was taken to the prison that morning and was found to have high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart failure during the physical examination.
4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Yunlan Faces Trial
Ms. Xu Yunlan was arrested at home on June 3, 2020 and was released on bail pending trial later due to her health. Her case was submitted to the Shahekou District Procuratorate. The assistant procurator Chen Xiaohan mailed the indictment to her in mid-March 2023. Ms. Lan was taken to have physical exams three times. She was denied admission to the detention center due to the result of the exams. She was informed that she would be tried in the Ganjingzi District Court at 9 a.m. on April 12, 2023.
5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Fengying Imprisoned
Ms. Yang Fengying was taken to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on April 4, 2023.
6. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Rong Yaping Tried in Court
Ms. Rong Yaping was arrested on September 25, 2022 and was sent to a detention center. A secret trial was held on March 20, 2023.
7. [Leiyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Long Lianying and Ms. Zhang Yingrong Detained
Ms. Long Lianying and Ms. Zhang Yingrong were placed under 15-day detention on April 8, 2023.
8. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Mingzhen Detained
Ms. Liu Mingzhen was arrested in October 2022 and was held in the Dazhou City Detention Center since then. She is now under official arrest. She has symptoms of high blood pressure. Her husband suffers from dementia and her family had to hire someone to take care of him, which is a financial burden on her children.
9. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wei Xiaojun Arrested
Several officers went to Ms. Wei Xiaojun’s home on the morning of October 28, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books, two photos of Falun Gong’s founder, three media players and a cell phone. Ms. Wei was taken to the Nanjinqiao Police Station for interrogation. She was released at noon.
Four officers from the Nanjinqiao Police Station went to Ms. Wei’s home at noon on February 22, 2023. They confiscated a media player and took Ms. Wei to the police station. Ms. Wei was released that afternoon.
10. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhu Mingdi and His Wife Ms. Cai Xiuying Tried in Court
Mr. Zhu Mingdi and his wife Ms. Cai Xiuying from Xiangfang District were tried for the second time in the Daqing Court on April 4 or 5, 2023.
11. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Tang Lirong Sentenced to Prison
Mr. Tang Lirong, 67, was tried in the Jingyang District Court on February 17, 2023. He was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and fined 40,000 yuan. The verdict was officially sent to his family in April 2023.
12. [Beijing] Ms. Jiao Shuying and Mr. Peng You Persecuted
Ms. Jiao Shuying from Hongfuyuan Community, Changping District, was arrested by officers from the Haidian District on April 9, 2023.
Mr. Peng You from the Hongfuyuan Community was tried in the Changping District Court on April 17, 2023.
13. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liao Xiaoping Released From Prison
Ms. Liao Xiaoping from Meijiang District was sentenced to one and a half years in prison by the Meixian District Court. She was detained in the Baiyun Women’s Prison since July 2022. Ms. Liao was released on April 2, 2023.
14. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yu Yinghua Released From Prison
Ms. Yu Yinghua from Lushun City was arrested at home on July 10, 2019. She was tried in the Lushunkou District Court in September 2020, and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. She was taken to the Shenyang Women’s Prison from the Yaojia Detention Center in July 2021. Ms. Yu was released on January 30, 2023.
15. [Jining City, Shandong Province] The Original Verdicts Against Four Practitioners Upheld in the Intermediate Court
Four practitioners, Xia Jing, Wang Xuejun, Sun Jing and Ma Hongliang, appealed to the Jining City Intermediate Court but the original verdicts against them were upheld on March 27, 2023.
16. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Yanling Imprisoned
Ms. Wu Yanling is one of 12 practitioners who were arrested on June 11, 2021. She was taken to the No. 2 Women’s Prison in Shenyang City. Six practitioners out of 12 have been sentenced including Ms. Wu and her husband Mr. Wang Zhongxue.
17. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Kuihua Faces Second Hearing
Ms. Yan Kuihua was sentenced to two years in prison in mid-October 2022. She appealed to the Zibo City Intermediate Court and will be tried again on April 12, 2023.
18. [Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Ren Peng Arrested and Detained
Mr. Ren Peng from Xinyang City, Henan Province, was arrested in his workplace in Hezhuang Village, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City on the evening of April 5, 2023. He is currently detained in the Yisheng Detention Center in the Xiaoshan District.
19. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Liu Chang Arrested and Detained
Several officers from the Hunhewan Police Station in Heping District arrested Liu Chang when Liu came back from taking out the garbage around 7 a.m. on March 15, 2023. They ransacked Liu’s home and took Liu to the police station. Liu was taken to the No.1 Detention Center the next day.
20. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Xiuying Arrested
Ms. Chen Xiuying was arrested at home by officers from the Tianwei Police Station around 6 p.m. on April 3, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated more than 20 Falun Gong books, some wall posters and pendants. Ms. Chen was taken to the police station for interrogation but was released at midnight.
The police returned the next morning and took Ms. Chen to the Qingyuan Detention Center. She was denied admission due to high blood pressure and was released.
21. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Houde and His Wife Ms. Zhou Fenglan Arrested
Several people from the Xiguan Police Station and Penglai City Political and Legal Affairs Committee went to ransack the home of Mr. Wang Houde and Ms. Zhou Fenglan on April 3, 2023. They confiscated their posters, calendars, Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. The couple tried to stop them and photographed them. They were arrested and taken to the police station. They were released later that evening.
