(Minghui.org) Mr. Chen Jiaqing, 66, of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was arrested on June 11, 2023, at a hotel in Urumqi City, Xinjiang, after the police there found Falun Gong information on his phone during their random questioning of out-of-towners.
Shortly after Mr. Chen’s arrest, two agents from the Urumqi Railway Police Department traveled more than 1,800 miles to Sanjiang Town, Sichuan Province, and, together with their counterparts from the Sanjiang Town Police Station, raided his vacation home there.
They confiscated three cell phones, several computer storage cards, a flash drive, and a small music player. The two Urumqi officers also ransacked the homes of several Sichuan practitioners that Mr. Chen had contact with.
Mr. Chen’s family recently went to Sanjiang again (about 90 miles from Chengdu) to inquire about the status of his case, but was unable to get any updates from the Sanjiang Town Police Station. They also called the Urumqi Railway Police Department, which, however, denied having ever detained Mr. Chen or had any knowledge of his whereabouts.
His family is calling on kindhearted people to help locate their loved one.
Ms. Chen graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology in Heilongjiang Province in 1982. He enjoyed traveling around the country after he retired from the 29th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation in Sichuan Province. His family never expected his trip to Xinjiang would turn into a nightmare.
