(Minghui.org) It was recently learned that a 70-year-old woman in Linyi City, Shandong Province, had been admitted to Shandong Province Women’s Prison (located in the capital city of Ji’nan) on March 1, 2023, to serve a three-year term. It is unclear when Ms. Li Chuanfang was tried and sentenced.
Ms. Li distributed Falun Gong informational materials in her apartment complex on the morning of August 5, 2022. The security guard in the complex immediately called in police upon noticing what she was doing from surveillance cameras. Six plainclothes officers from the Shengzhuang Police Station soon arrived. They broke into Ms. Li’s home when she was alone, confiscated her Falun Gong books, and took her away.
Ms. Li’s husband returned in the afternoon to see their home in a big mess. Even the storage room was turned upside down, and his wife was nowhere to be found. He then got a phone call ordering him to report to the Shengzhuang Police Station to sign some paperwork. It is unclear whether he went.
The police never informed Ms. Li’s husband of her whereabouts. He later learned from an insider that she was taken to the Hedong District Detention Center. He found out in late June 2023 that his wife had been sentenced and admitted to prison.
Prior to her latest persecution, Ms. Li had been arrested nine times between 1999 and 2009. Her tenth confirmed arrest took place on August 29, 2019 when the police broke into her home and seized her. She was detained for half a month.
