(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Cai Xiuying Taken to Prison
Mr. Zhu Mingdi and his wife Ms. Cai Xiuying from Xiangfang District were tried for a second time on April 6, 2023. The results were not announced that day, and the couple refused to sign any court papers.
Mr. Zhu and Ms. Cai were sentenced to nine years and eight months and ten years in prison, respectively, and were fined 60,000 and 50,000 yuan respectively. Their family members were not allowed to attend the court hearing. On April 10 they were notified that the original sentences were upheld.
Ms. Cai was taken to the Harbin Women’s Prison on May 15, 2023. Mr. Zhu was held in the Daqing City Detention Center.
2. [Beijing] Mr. Pang You Tried
Mr. Pang You remains hospitalized and was tried via video link at Changping Public Security Hospital on July 3, 2023. His lawyer attended the video trial. When the lawyer met Mr. Pang before, he could not walk and was in a wheelchair. Mr. Pang is still being held in the hospital, and his health is worrisome.
3. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
The director of the Taohaotai Township Police Station in Qianguo County and another person arrested Ms. Wang Limei from Jianbala Village on the afternoon of July 11, 2023. Around the same time, the two people went to Mr. Ren Linchen's and his wife Ju Guilan’s home in the village. They looked around both inside and outside the couple’s home and then left. They returned to their home on the evening of July 12 and arrested Mr. Ren and Ms. Ju.
4. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhu Yuxia Unconsciousness
After Kuancheng District Procuratorate in Changchun City brought up charges against Ms. Zhu Yuxia, her health deteriorated. She is now unconscious.
5. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Ma Fang Arrested
Four or five officers led by Feng Ruiming from the Dongjuzi Police Station in the Changyi District broke into Ms. Ma Fang’s home and ransacked the place on the afternoon of June 4, 2023. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a computer, a laptop, a printer, a scanner, a DVD player, and a cell phone. They took Ms. Ma to the police station and held her there overnight. Ms. Ma was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center the following day.
While in the detention center, officers from the Changyi District Police Department came to interrogate her once, and personnel from the Changyi District Procuratorate came to interrogate her twice. On July 6, officer Zhang Weidong and two others from the Dongjuzi Police Station took Ms. Ma back to the police station. Officer Feng Ruiming told Ms. Ma to pay a deposit of 10,000 yuan, which she refused.
Officer Zhang Weidong called Ms. Ma’s younger sister and told her to pay 20,000 yuan as a deposit for her release on bail. Ms. Ma returned home on July 7.
6. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Cui Duofan’s Home Ransacked
It was recently reported that the room Cui Duofan lives in, in the Bingdao Factory dormitory was ransacked, and his Falun Gong books and pendants were confiscated.
7. [Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Yun and Wife Ms. Ma Fengxia Released on Bail
Mr. Wang Yun and his wife Ms. Ma Fengxia from Xiaozhujia Village, Baichigan Town, were arrested by local police on May 17, 2023. They were then taken to the Zhuozhou City Domestic Security Division. The detention center refused to admit them because they failed the physical examinations. The couple was released on bail on May 19.
8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Case Against Ms. Li Yanmin Turned Over to Procuratorate
Ms. Li Yanmin’s case has been turned over to the Chaoyang District Procuratorate.
9. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] The Case Against Ms. Yang Yuzhen Brought to Court
On July 28, 2022 officers from the Badahu Police Station ransacked the home of Ms. Yang Yuzhen, 86, on Jinhu Road, Shinan District. She was later released on bail. Her case entered court proceedings on July 3, 2023. The court appointed a lawyer for her when she refused to hire one.
10. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xia Jingmin Detained
Ms. Xia Jingmin from Quyang County was arrested for telling parents' students about Falun Gong. The school principal and the township head came with officers from the Political Security Division and arrested her. She was handcuffed to an iron chair for 24 hours and detained for 14 days. She has returned home.
11. [Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Xu Guiming Held in Detention Center
Ms. Xu Guiming, 69, was reported to the police when she talked to people about Falun Gong on the morning of June 23, 2023. She was arrested and taken to the Baota Road Police Station in Runzhou District, and then to Zhenjiang City Detention Center. Later, officers from the police station called her family and told them to send Ms. Xu 1,000 yuan. Only then did the family know that Ms. Xu had been arrested and was held in Zhenjiang City Detention Center. That was 20 days ago and she remains in custody.
12. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Three More Practitioners Arrested in June
Ms. Qin Dongmei, Mr. Zheng Fengxiang, and Ms. Zhao, who lives in the Shiyizhong area, were arrested by officers from the Jilin City Domestic Security Division on June 4, 2023. After Mr. Zheng was held for 24 hours, he walked out of the police station.
13. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhan Yanyan’s Home Ransacked
Ms. Zhan Yanyan's home in Pingdu City was ransacked on the afternoon of July 3, 2023. Several Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Zhan resolutely refused to cooperate. After two hours of confrontation, she was not arrested.
14. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Chuanhong Held in Detention Center
Ms. Wang Chuanhong from the Fushan District was reported to the police when she distributed Falun Gong materials. She was arrested at home by officers from the Chengguan Police Station on the morning of July 5, 2023. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a computer, a printer, and some printed materials. Ms. Wang was brought home by her family that afternoon.
Officers returned on the morning of July 10 and took Ms. Wang away. She is being held in the Fushan District Detention Center.
15. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhou Chunling Arrested
Ms. Zhou Chunling from Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province was arrested by officers from the Guan County Domestic Security Division in Shandong Province in June 2022. After escaping, she stayed away from home to avoid the persecution. Officers from the Guan County Police Department in Shandong Province have been looking for her. On July 12, 2023, she was arrested in Dandong City, Liaoning Province.
16. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Pan Guihua Arrested
Six people from the Qianguo County Domestic Security Division, Baiyilaga Township Police Station, and the Chaganhua Township Police Station went to Ms. Pan Guihua’s home in Baiyilaga Township at 11:30 a.m. on July 12, 2023. They searched Ms. Pan’s home and found a Falun Gong book. They arrested Ms. Pan and detained her for seven days.
Qu Jun from Hongguang Farm, who was arrested on July 5, 2023, was detained for 15 days.
17. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Yulan Returns Home
Ms. Wang Yulan returned home on July 8, 2023, after being imprisoned for two years.
