(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Cao Yuqin, 66, and Ms. Liu Shufang, 77, were in Mr. Yang Chunman’s home in Kouqian Town, Yongji County, on the morning of February 14, 2022. Zhang Bo, director of Yongji County 610 Office, and several other officers from the Chengnan Police Station in Kouqian Town broke into Mr. Yang’s home, confiscated all the Falun Gong books, and took all three practitioners to the police station.
Ms. Cao and Ms. Liu were released on bail at around 10 that evening. Ms. Cao was fined 1,000 yuan. Mr. Yang was held in the Jilin City Detention Center for a month and a half and had to pay a 2,000-yuan deposit. He was released on bail on April 1, 2022, and detention center personnel took him home.
It was recently reported that Ms. Cao was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 3,000 yuan. Due to her health, she is to serve her sentence outside the prison, and she is at home.
Ms. Nie Yan, 64, who is retired from teaching at the Lihua Elementary School, was arrested by Weixing Road Police Station officers on May 31, 2023, for telling people about Falun Gong. On June 21, she was officially placed under arrest by prosecutor Gao Di with the Chaoyang District Procuratorate. She is being held in the No. 4 Ward of the Changchun City Detention Center. Detention center officials did not allow her lawyer to see her. They told the lawyer to file with the judicial departments in both the city where his office is based and the city where Ms. Nie’s case is being prosecuted.
Ms. Nie’s sister Ms. Nie Hong was also a practitioner. She passed away in 2019.
Ms. Nie Hong was arrested by the Dunhua City police in the Yanbian Autonomous Region on May 26, 2011. The Yanji City police broke into her home and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Gong books, printed materials, and personal belongings. She was taken from Dunhua City to the Dacheng Brainwashing Center in Yanji City. The sub-district administration office also sent someone to participate in persecuting her. They threatened her and said that if she did not give up her belief, she would be taken to a forced labor camp or prison. On April 12, 2017, Ms. Nie Hong was arrested, taken to a detention center, and held for 15 days. She passed away in 2019.
Two police officers broke into Ms. Ji Yuping’s home in Zhaoyuan County at 11 a.m. on June 21, 2023. Without a search certificate, they ransacked her home for over two hours. They also called in two other officers to arrest Ms. Ji. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and Falun Gong books. Ms. Ji was taken to the Zhaoyuan County Police Department and then to Daqing City. She has not been released.
Officers from Wolong Town Police Station broke into Ms. Liu Xiaowen’s home around 6 p.m. on July 19, 2023. Without showing any documents, they tore off the calligraphy that read “Falun Dafa is good” on the wall and took down a mirror that had “Falun Dafa bestows blessings” engraved on it. They confiscated several Falun Gong keepsakes, some printed materials, and two weekly magazines. They took Ms. Liu to the police station. Her 10-year-old grandson was so frightened he cried.
Ms. Liu Xiaowen’s husband, who’d just had surgery on his sinuses, followed them to the police station, where Ms. Liu was questioned. At her husband’s insistence, Ms. Liu was able to leave after the officers forced her to sign paperwork.
Ms. Bao Yaqin was caught on video surveillance cameras when she distributed information about Falun Gong in the Hengguang Residential Community on March 20, 2023. She was arrested by officers from Weixing Road Police Station. She is being held in Changchun City No. 3 Detention Center. For over four months, her family members have not been allowed to visit her. They are only allowed to deposit money for her.
It was reported recently that Mr. Xing Baomin was sentenced to a year and six months in prison. He was taken to Zhengzhou Prison in June 2023.
Ms. Zhang Liyu filed a lawsuit against the Fuzhou City Human Resources and Social Security Department because her pension was withheld.
Jin’an District No. 3 Court has accepted her case and will hold a hearing at 9 a.m. on August 3, 2023.
Ms. Zhao Qingping from Wuchang City was arrested on July 19, 2022, by officers from the Xiaoshanzi Police Station, the Chongren Police Station, and the Qizhi Police Station in Wuchang City. She was held in the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center.
In March 2023, Ms. Zhao was tried in the Acheng District Court, sentenced to six years in prison, and fined 20,000 yuan. Ms. Zhao refused to accept the judgment and appealed to the Harbin City Intermediate Court, which upheld the original judgment. She was taken to Heilongjiang Women’s Prison on June 28.
About two months ago, Mr. Zhang Nanping from Jiangxi Province, who was doing odd jobs in Shanghai, was arrested and taken back to Jiangxi Province by Domestic Security officers from the Dongxiang District, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province.
Ms. Zhang Xiufen, Ms. Li Suping, and Ms. Chen Xiaoqin from Dahaituo Township, Chicheng County, went to the countryside to post Falun Gong informational stickers on May 13, 2023. They were arrested and taken to the local police station. Director Wang Xuyang and officer Di Zhiqiang cursed, hit, and kicked them. The officers also boasted that they had a quota to meet and arrested four practitioners every year. The quota system and police operations are completely in violation of the law.
Director Wang told the three women to give their names, but they refused to comply. Wang threatened to restrain them on a tiger bench and put them in the detention center for two weeks. Officers repeatedly questioned them but they refused to cooperate. All three were released that day.
Ms. Liu Lijun was taken to Jiujiang City Detention Center in the second half of July 2023.
Over 12 practitioners were arrested in a recent round of police raids. Zhang Qun and Zhang's spouse, both about 80 years old, were held in the detention center. Mr. Jin Longzhe, 54, of Korean ethnicity, who owns a refrigerated meat shop, was also arrested. Mr. Jin has family and relatives in South Korea. They have not been able to reach him since July 20, 2023. The police ransacked his home and harassed his relatives in Jilin Province.
Ms. Ding Shuxian, in her 60s; Ms. Jiang Shuzhi, 58; and Ms. Liu, 57, all returned home separately after being detained for several days.
Ms. Sui Guilan was arrested and sentenced to one year in prison on July 20, 2022. She returned home on July 19, 2023.
Zhou Lile was arrested on May 25, 2023, by Nanshan Police Station officers in the Jiguan District. Zhou returned home on June 8 after being detained for 15 days.
