(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa, a Buddhist meditation practice that helps improve one’s mental and physical fitness, has been taught for 32 years across the five continents in the world. The Minghui Weekly newspaper (also known as the Weekly) collects articles from the Chinese Minghui website and introduces its readers to Falun Dafa’s principles and healing effects and stories from practitioners, and exposes happenings in the ongoing persecution in China.
To better spread the truth, since January 2022, a practitioner in Taiwan printed copies of the international edition of Minghui Weekly and handed them out to people at tourist spots, business centers and markets, and community fairs and activities. Many people have since learned about the health benefits of the practice and begun practicing Falun Dafa themselves.
Finding Falun Dafa in a Minghui Publication
Mr. Chen from Hsinchu in northern Taiwan heard about Falun Dafa from his younger brother years ago but didn’t think much of it at the time because he was busy with his career. He recently went to a dentist and saw issues of Minghui Weekly on the bookshelf in the clinic. He read them carefully while he waited for his appointment and was touched by the stories.
From then on, every time Chen visited his dentist, he didn’t think the wait was long because he had the Weekly to read. He slowly became curious about the practice after reading the stories of the practitioners. He contacted the Taiwan Minghui Publishing Center to ask where he could buy the books of the teachings and learn the exercises.
Mr. Wang is retired and lived in Pingtung County in southern Taiwan. He once saw a picture on Minghui Weekly in which five people of different ethnicities were demonstrating the five Falun Dafa exercise movements. After carefully examining the picture, he thought, “I want to meditate too.” He called the phone number on the picture and learned where in his community he could learn the exercises.
Ms. Liu suffered from depression, and took a long break from work. One day a Falun Dafa practitioner gave her a copy of the Weekly and she read a story about how a Vietnamese student who studied in Melbourne recovered from depression through the practice. Liu was inspired, and read every story in the publication carefully. “I became more clear-headed and energetic afterward. My head was no longer foggy,” she said. She called the Publishing Center and asked where she could purchase Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Dafa’s teachings.
Shi from Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan called the Publishing Center after reading the cultivation stories in the Weekly. She wanted to know where she could attend the nine-day Falun Dafa Workshop, and where the nearest exercise site was.
Resuming Practice After Reading the Weekly
Ms. Lin previously attended the nine-day Falun Dafa Workshop, but did not continue the practice. One time she saw the Weekly in her mother-in-law’s house and was amazed after reading the cultivation stories of the practitioners. She called the Publishing Center and asked for contact information for local practitioners in her area, and resumed the practice.
Mr. Huang from Hualien County in eastern Taiwan used to practice another belief. He later practiced Falun Dafa but always did so on his own. A copy of the Weekly was delivered to his doorstep one day, and he was able to get contact information for local practitioners. With other practitioners’ help, he started his own practice site, and joined a local Falun Dafa study group.
Huang talked about why he liked reading the Weekly, “I enjoy reading the stories of the practitioners, and the views on why mankind should believe in gods and respect the divine.” The publication allowed him to know the meaning of cultivation, and how to behave like a practitioner. He subscribed to the Weekly, and delivered it to more people.
A Publication that Delivers Conscience and Courage
A man in Taipei was doing business in China, and had advised people in Taiwan not to criticize the Chinese Communist Party, fearing that the authorities would target and retaliate against businesses from Taiwan. A practitioner showed him an article on the Weekly about how an Australian multi-millionaire bamboo floor manufacturer made even more money after pulling his business out of China. The man was in disbelief and called the Publishing Center to verify the story, and was told that the story was 100% true. A man from Yunlin county in central Taiwan called the Publishing Center about the same article. Huang praised the Weekly for its international perspective and thanked the Publishing Center for its vision to raise the public’s awareness of the evil Chinese Communist Party. “Your writers provide powerful points of view, I respect that,” he said.
A woman in Taipei received a copy of the Weekly and a lotus ornament from a practitioner. After reading the Weekly, she felt joyous and contacted the Publishing Center to subscribe to 400 copies of each edition. She wanted to keep ten copies for herself and give away the rest to promote the newspaper.
A building manager called the Publishing Center wanting to subscribe to ten copies of each edition of the Weekly. He said that a woman used to regularly deliver ten copies to the building, free for the residents to read. The residents enjoyed reading it, and would come and ask for it every time a new edition came out. The woman stopped coming to the building and the residents missed reading the newspaper.
A young man in central Taiwan received a copy of the Weekly with the headline about the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passing the Falun Gong Protection Act. It happened that during the same period of time, China was sending bomb threats to theaters in Taiwan that agreed to air the movie State Organs. The movie exposes the Chinese regime’s systematic efforts to steal organs from living Falun Dafa practitioners who were imprisoned for refusing to renounce their faith. The young man said, “I hope the legislators in Taiwan can make it a law to support and protect Falun Dafa practitioners as well. The Chinese regime is nothing to be afraid of, and I will invite my friends to watch the movie.”
One day a woman received a copy of the Weekly with the headline about a Falun Dafa practitioner who escaped a Chinese prison and survived live organ harvesting. The practitioner, Cheng Peiming, came out in public to expose the horrendous crime. The woman commented, “The practitioner is so brave. I have heard about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. It is surprising that a newspaper dares to report the truth. We must raise awareness of the crime of organ harvesting and tell people in Taiwan not to go to China to receive organ transplants.”
A couple overheard the conversation and came to join the discussion. They told the practitioner, “You are saving people with this newspaper. We must let the people in Taiwan know the truth.”
