Two Jiangsu Residents Detained for Four Months and Counting for Their Faith in Falun Gong

Dec. 3, 2024 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jiangsu Province, China

(Minghui.org) Two Danyang City, Jiangsu Province, residents remain detained since their arrests four months ago for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Mr. Yang Xinsen was arrested at around 9 p.m. on August 4, 2024, while tending to his family-owned shop. More than ten arresting officers from the Jinglin Police Station, the Zhongshan Road Police Station, and the Danyang City Police Department seized him, and confiscated his business computer. Hours later, at around 2 a.m., eight plainclothes officers used the key confiscated from him to open the door to his home, terrifying the two elderly relatives who live with him.

The police confiscated Mr. Yang’s computer, printer, Falun Gong books, music player, 1,000 yuan in cash, and other valuables. They did not provide a list of confiscated items as required by law.

Ms. Lu Xiaoqin was arrested on the same day while studying the Falun Gong teachings with a few other practitioners. It is unclear whether her case was related to Mr. Yang’s.

The police refused to reveal where the two practitioners were being held, and also barred their families from delivering clothing to them.

Mr. Yang’s mother, Ms. Qin Jindi, sought his release but to no avail. She managed to find out in October 2024 that her son had been taken to the Zhenjiang City Detention Center. Zhenjiang oversees Danyang.

Ms. Lu’s family still doesn’t know where she is being held.
