(Minghui.org) The British Museum is a popular tourist destination in London. Tourists can see Falun Dafa practitioners handing out brochures and talking with people outside the museum. The information on their display boards often surprises Chinese tourists, and some wish to know more. Some read the information carefully, while others take photos or chat with practitioners. Many Chinese who learn the facts decide to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations.
The following incidents happened in June and July 2024.
Tourists sign the petition calling for the persecution to end at the information booth outside the British Museum.
People read the information on the display boards.
In June, a Chinese girl kept waving away the Falun Dafa brochure a practitioner tried to give her. The practitioner asked, “Do you think you will get an electric shock?”
Then she smiled and asked the girl if she’d ever wondereed why people outside China have such a completely different attitude about Falun Gong, very unlike how people in China regard it.
The practitioner explained that this was due to the CCP’s strict control of information in all forms of media and the internet firewall, leading the people in China to misunderstand Falun Gong since they have effectively been brainwashed. Even when people in China finally have an opportunity to travel to other countries and learn the truth, they’re constantly warned to not look at, listen to, or take Falun Gong materials. If they do, they will get into trouble. This is a wanton deprivation of their right to information.
She said that this is a common method of emotional blackmail that the CCP utilizes, causing people to have fear and concerns. So they are afraid to come into contact with or learn the truth. The girl nodded in agreement.
The practitioner also explained that “listening to both sides will enlighten you” and that it was absurd that the CCP would force people to join its organizations. She told her that information was freely available outside of China and how political parties in Western countries operate. She also explained in detail the importance of withdrawing from the CCP’s organizations.
The girl understood and agreed to quit the Youth League and Young Pioneers that she’d joined. She thanked the practitioner.
In July, a student from China told a practitioner that he admired Falun Gong. He said his father practiced it and that he’d personally witnessed its amazing effects.
The student asked about the significance of withdrawing from the CCP’s organizations.
The practitioner explained that from the standpoint of morality and conscience, the CCP has never stopped persecuting its people in all its various “movements.” It exploits the entire Chinese population. What’s even more reprehensible is that the CCP forces middle and elementary school students to join its organizations and swear an oath to fight for it their entire lives.
The practitioner emphasized that one’s life is one’s own, so how could one vow to give it away? Especially if it’s an evil party that has killed 80 million people. Vows are serious, so if you said you would give your life to it, that means you would be willing to share the responsibility for the deaths of the countless numbers of people the CCP has killed. That is an extremely dangerous situation to be in.
The student agreed and said that he already posted his withdrawal from the CCP on the Epoch Times’ website. He said he thought everyone should have the right to choose freely, especially when it comes to a political party that tortures people.
When a woman from Shanghai walked by the booth, she seemed pleased to take what the practitioners were handing out. She said, “The communist party is the cult.” She also sighed and said that control over what one can say is increasingly strict in China and people aren’t able to share their true thoughts.
She criticized the CCP for squandering taxpayers’ money, which she thinks will only lead to misfortune. She said, “Too many people died during the pandemic. The crematories couldn’t even keep up. The CCP also misguides its people to hate America, Japan, and Taiwan and says that hating them is being patriotic. It does that to cover up its own crimes and brainwash the people.”
She withdrew from the Youth League using the pseudonym “Le Shun” (meaning “happy and easygoing”) to express her distaste for the CCP and longing for freedom.
A woman from Henan who is now over 40 used to be an elementary school teacher. She recalled that when Falun Gong just started being persecuted in China, she witnessed how the CCP sent people to search for Falun Gong books household by household and how the CCP prevented people from practicing.
After she moved to England, she no longer kept up with the situation in China. She was stunned to hear that the persecution was still going on, for example, how schools force students and their parents to sign letters that smear Falun Gong.
She said she used to believe the CCP’s propaganda and frequently donated blood because of it. She now realizes that she was deceived.
The practitioner showed her the photo of the “hidden character stone” in Pingtang, Guizhou, that is engraved with the characters for “The Chinese Communist Party Will Perish” and advised her to quit the CCP. The woman agreed to withdraw from the Youth League and was interested in learning more about Falun Gong.
When a Chinese man walked by the information booth and a practitioner offered him a brochure, the man politely declined and said, “I won’t take it. I can’t bring it back [to China].”
The practitioner understood his concerns and said, “You can keep what you learn in your heart after you read it. Can the CCP control your thoughts?”
The man responded with a smile, “I actually know all about that.”
When the practitioner asked if he was able to circumvent the information censorship in China, he said, “Yes. Actually, in China, everybody knows what’s going on. They’re just afraid to comment online in case the internet police give them problems.
“Especially during the three years of the pandemic, in some areas, when a person tested positive, the entire community got locked down. I lived in Fujian, which was relatively better. I went to work every day and did not have easy access to information, so I didn’t know about many things. It wasn’t only the pandemic, the Party has done many underhanded things, basically bullying people. People are just afraid to talk about it.”
He withdrew from Young Pioneers using an alias.
