Mr. Guo Shuxin, of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, passed away on February 3, 2020, shortly after he was released from prison in critical condition.

Mr. Guo went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 2000, and was given a one-year labor camp term.

The police raided Mr. Guo’s home during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and confiscated his printer, paper cutter, and Falun Gong informational materials. Mr. Guo was sentenced to three and a half years, and his wife, Ms. Chen Yongzhu, was given four years.

The couple were arrested again in 2016 for making phone calls to the public to inform them about the persecution. Mr. Guo was sentenced again to three years and three months, with a 12,000-yuan fine. Ms. Chen received three years and was fined 10,000 yuan.

Although Mr. Guo had become incapacitated due to the abuse at the Zhengzhou City Third Detention Center, the Zhengzhou Prison still admitted him following his conviction. He was later released on the verge of death. He died on February 3, 2020.
