(Minghui.org) A 63-year-old woman in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province was admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on February 20, 2025 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Tian Liping was arrested on March 11, 2024. Although she was found to have high blood pressure, the police managed to persuade the Shenyang City First Detention Center to accept her. The guards there forced her to take hypertension medications. She saw no improvement in her condition, but she felt dazed and suffered from declining memory.
The Hunnan District Procuratorate indicted Ms. Tian on August 16, 2024. She appeared in the Hunnan District Court on September 24, 2024, and was sentenced to four years. She filed an appeal on September 28 with the Shenyang City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold her original verdict on December 11.
Ms. Tian was taken to the 12th Division, the training and correction division, at the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on February 20, 2025. After enduring a period of intensive brainwashing there, she was transferred to Team 8 of the 4th Division. Her family has since been allowed to visit her once a month. The meeting is often monitored by the prison guards and doesn’t last very long. Ms. Tian appears to have aged a lot and she doesn’t dare mention anything regarding the abuse she is suffering.
This is the second time that Ms. Tian has been sentenced for her faith. She was previously arrested on October 4, 2010, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was later sentenced to three years with three years probation (no prison time was required). She was released from the Shenyang City First Detention Center after eight months.
