(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhu Xixia in Daye City, Hubei Province, was recently sentenced to two years because she practices Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhu was arrested on May 22, 2024. She was first held at the Daye City Detention Center and then transferred to the Huangshi City Detention Center on June 6 that year. Her family recently learned that she was sentenced to two years, but details about her indictment, trial and sentencing aren’t clear.
Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Zhu has been repeatedly targeted for upholding her faith. She was arrested on March 18, 2008 and taken to the Tangxunhu Brainwashing Center in Wuhan City. During her over 30 days of detention there, she was injected with nerve-damaging drugs for three consecutive days, which led to severe memory loss.
Ms. Zhu filed a criminal complaint in June 2015 against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the CCP who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong. She was arrested on November 3, 2015 and taken to the Huangshi City First Detention Center. The Daye City Court sentenced her to four years and fined her 5,000 yuan on March 30, 2017. She was admitted to the Hubei Province Women’s Prison on July 13, 2017.
She was held in the 7th Division of the prison, and often forced to stand for hours. Guard Cai Wenjuan instructed inmate Li Jin’e to monitor her. Li beat her if she couldn’t maintain her posture. Due to sleep deprivation, Ms. Zhu fainted while standing. Cai had the inmates pour water over her. After she came to, they tied her hands behind her back and forced her to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong.
Guard Cai also had inmate Hu Qiuxiang put a stinky shoe pad in Ms. Zhu’s mouth and taped her head and mouth to a metal door. She almost suffocated. Then they hung her up to the door for an unknown length of time.
Guard Zhang Yi attempted to force Ms. Zhu to read statements to smear Falun Gong. When she refused to comply, Zhang had two inmates stomp on her feet. Her feet and legs became extremely swollen and she was in a delirious state.
The guards later forced Ms. Zhu to eat unlabeled medicine. She began drooling, her mind felt numb, she could not control her hands and she also had systemic edema.
In addition to the physical torture and involuntary drug administration, Ms. Zhu was also forced to work without pay, mostly making clothes.
After Ms. Zhu was released in August 2019, the local police and 610 Office agents kept harassing her, threatening to take her to the Huangshi Brainwashing Center. The police also installed an eavesdropping device in her family-run shop, which she didn’t discover for a long time.
A group of officers from the Daye City Domestic Security Office, Mingshan Police Station, and Daye City 610 Office broke into Ms. Zhu’s home on May 6, 2022 and attempted to take her to the brainwashing center. She wasn’t home. They pried open her door and smashed a big hole in it. Ms. Zhu was forced to live away from home for more than six months to hide from the police.
Officer Peng from the Mingshan Township government, Huang Haiqing of the Daye City 610 Office and Xu of the local police station went to harass Ms. Zhu on July 1, 2023. They forcibly took photos of her, even after she put on a face mask.
