(Minghui.org) An estimated 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners from countries including Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, Canada and the U.S gathered at Liberty Square in Taipei on the morning of October 18, 2025 and held a large-scale character formation. This year, the image formed is a giant Falun emblem with four Chinese characters “The Wheel Rotates Constantly.” The atmosphere was sacred, tranquil, and displayed practitioners’ righteous thoughts and conviction. Tourists from many countries stopped to watch.

After the activity, practitioners did the five sets of exercises and expressed their respect for their founder, Master Li, and displayed banners with the messages: “Falun Dafa is Great” and, “Thank You Master For Your Infinite Grace”.

People stopped to read the information about Falun Gong and learn about the spiritual practice.

The Character Formation Is a Display of Courage and Upholds Freedom of Belief

Xiao Songshan, chairman of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association said, “Every year, the character formation in Taiwan shows practitioners continue to respond with peace and compassion in the face of suppression. They show the world how precious freedom and courage of belief is.” Since July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong continues and has even extended overseas. Recently, international media and human rights organizations have begun to expose the regime’s transnational repression campaign in many countries around the world. The Chinese regime uses social media platforms to spread misinformation, and sends bomb and gun threats to try and stop Shen Yun Performing Arts from performing around the world. These threats have caught the attention of the international community.

He said, “The persecution by the CCP is a contrast to practitioners’ peaceful protest, awakening people’s conscience and sense of justice.” Xiao said governments in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Europe have passed laws, resolutions or motions urging the CCP to stop the persecution and organ harvesting. He hopes people in Taiwan can understand the facts about the persecution, and that the government enacts legislation to stop the CCP’s infiltration.

Xiao said that when more people know the truth, oppose the CCP’s persecution and suppression, it is not only supports Falun Gong practitioners’ freedom of belief, it also upholds freedom of human rights and universal values.

Character formation activities have been held in Taiwan for 26 years. Wu Qingxiang was responsible for designing the image and said this year’s image of the Falun emblem has a diameter of over 66 meters. This is the emblem of Falun Dafa. The four, golden, traditional Chinese characters below the emblem “The Falun Is Constantly Turning”, every character is 21 meters wide, 17 meters high. He said that every year, photos of the activity are posted online and people in China leave messages such as, “How grand!” or, “How magnificent!”

Wu said this year’s image symbolizes the rapid spread of Falun Gong globally since it was introduced in Changchun, China. People in more than 100 countries and regions practice Falun Gong.

People Encourage Practitioners

John Michael from Pennsylvania, USA, teaches English in Taiwan. He said character formation activities are important because such a magnificent scene sends a powerful message to China and the world: “Although the CCP is persecuting us, yet here we are, we continue to exist, we will persist.”

Regarding Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, he said that society is in chaos, and people may think these values are lost. He thinks they have always existed, it’s just that people have forgotten. If there is more reflection, people will find these lost values. John wants to say to people in China: “Open your eyes and ears, you will discover there is such a group around you doing the right thing.”

Brendon, an engineer from Minnesota in the U.S., said the activity is wonderful, “It can make people more aware of Falun Gong, particularly because of the persecution by the CCP, this activity is so peaceful and involves so many people, the visual effect is spectacular.”

Brendon was very impressed by the character formation.

Brendon thinks today’s society needs the spirit of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, more than ever. It also needs freedom of speech. He praised the courage of Falun Gong practitioners in China and hopes they persist. Through their long term efforts in clarifying the truth, more people in China learn the facts about the persecution. Brendon wants to say to people in China, “Don’t believe what the CCP government says, use your rationality and logic to analyze things.”

Jonathan from Canada was surprised, and said he’s never seen so many Falun Gong practitioners before, coming together to accomplish such a complicated character formation activity. He said everyone looks so peaceful and orderly. “It makes me feel so peaceful.” Jonathan was shocked to learn of how brutal the CCP’s persecution is. He hopes practitioners persist in their faith.

Today’s Society Needs Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance

Mr. Tsai, who lives in Taipei and loves photography, took photos of the character formation and said people are free to learn Falun Gong in Taiwan, yet in China practitioners are persecuted and even subjected to organ harvesting. He thinks the CCP’s actions are inconceivable. In comparison, there is human rights and freedom of belief in Taiwan, so people should cherish this freedom. He knows these practitioners come from different parts of the world, yet they can accomplish this feat without any rehearsal. He said this is not an easy task.

He said, “Such a great practice, we should share it with more people.” He thinks the whole world should get to see the resilience of Falun Gong practitioners and pay attention to the ongoing persecution in China.

Mr. Ni also loves photography and has taken photos of the practitioners’ character formations for 6 years. He said he hopes to leave behind a witness to history through his photos. Every time he takes the photos, he has different feelings. He said this year is the hottest day. However, when he saw practitioners braving the hot weather, unmoved by the scorching sun for hours, he witnessed the forbearance of practitioners and has a lot of respect for them.

Mr. Ni said he is deeply moved by the spirit of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.

Mr. Hong from Nantou whose wife practices Falun Gong has seen photos of the activity in the past. He was deeply moved seeing the activity in person for the first time. He thought it was grand, sacred, monumental. He thought Falun Gong is amazing and expressed admiration for practitioners. He said his wife used to suffer from poor health and often went to the doctors. After a neighbor introduced her to Falun Gong, she hasn’t used her health care card for two decades. He thanks Falun Gong for giving his wife good health.

Mr. Hong from Nantou was moved to see the character formation in person for the first time.

He thinks that in contrast to the CCP’s persecution of such a kind group of people, practitioners are able to hold such grand events in a democratic society like Taiwan every year, which shows how evil the CCP’s tyranny is. Besides infiltrating Taiwan, the regime has extended its persecution to U.S. based Shen Yun Performing Arts group, who’s mission is reviving traditional Chinese culture. He calls on people to distinguish between good and evil.

Tourists Pay Attention to Falun Gong

Arturo from Spain is a martial arts enthusiast and was in Taiwan for a competition. He was practicing next to Liberty Square as practitioners formed the characters. He said it was a grand sight to see with so many people involved in the activity. Because he practices martial arts, he knows it needs strong determination to sit under the hot sun for two hours. He witnessed practitioners’ resilience and said he a had a lot of respect for them. Arturo laments that people’s hearts are turning bad in today’s world, and feels social media has exacerbated the situation. He said the world needs Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.

He was shocked when he was told of the CCP’s persecution. He saw how peaceful practitioners were and knew the persecution was unjustified. He wants to tell people in China, don’t give up, regardless of the political situation.

Ramon and Amalia from Mexico said they were delighted to see the character formation. They have a deep interest in Eastern cultivation culture. They learned that Falun Gong emphasizes cultivating one’s character. They felt this was amazing and they were interested in practicing. They hope to download the teachings when they return to Mexico, find a practice site, and start learning the exercises.

Ramon and Amalia from Mexico said they wish to learn Falun Gong when they return home.

Eric from Bogota, capital city of Columbia said he sees practitioners doing the exercises back home every weekend. He and his family love seeing them, but never approached them to find out more. While he was on vacation in Taiwan Eric was surprised to see so many practitioners. They appeared so calm under the hot sun. There was no noise at all. He thought such spirit is hard to come by and asked a practitioner for a flier.

Yarmond from the Netherlands said the character formation was peaceful and beautiful.

People Condemn the CCP

John from Canada learned of the persecution in 1999, but didn’t think too much about it. He praised practitioners’ character formation and said it was grand. He thought the CCP was wrong to persecute such a group of good people.

A couple from Italy saw the character formation on their first day in Taiwan. They were surprised and thought they were lucky. A practitioner told them to visit the website to read the introduction on the practice and they became interested. They also thought it was inconceivable that so many people are persecuted for doing this in China. “Such a group of good people, yet they cannot practice this in China, the CCP is so unjust towards Falun Gong practitioners.”

A couple from Italy could not understand why the CCP would persecute people for practicing Falun Gong.

Katherine and her family of three from the U.S. watched as practitioners formed the image. Katherine said she’s seen Falun Gong parades before so she knew about the persecution but she didn’t know much about Falun Gong. After she learned the exercises are taught for free she was interested in going online for more information. She said it was unacceptable that the CCP is suppressing such a group of peaceful people.

Ryan from California owns a red wine business. He happened to see the activity on his second day holidaying in Taiwan. He knew there are many types of qigong in China including Falun Gong. He wanted to find out more and learn the exercises. He said he knows about the persecution, and he feels the CCP is evil.

A group of young people from Korea asked practitioners about the activity and said the energy field was amazing. Seeing such a peaceful scene, they condemned the CCP’s ruthless persecution.
