(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Yan, 57, from Junan County, Shandong Province, stood trial on August 25, 2025 and fainted when she heard the judge announce at the end of the hearing that she had been sentenced to six months in prison because she practices Falun Gong.
The Linshu County Court instructed police from Junan County (which like Linshu is under the administration of Linyi City) to take Ms. Liu to the Junan County Hospital. Her blood pressure returned to normal about two days later and she was discharged and put in the Linyi City Detention Center.
Ms. Liu’s prison sentence stemmed from a police raid of her home around August 2023. They forced her husband to open the door and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other valuables. About four officers from the Junan County Domestic Security Office and the Chengdong Police Station broke into her home on October 27, 2023 and seized her Falun Gong books and music player.
After interrogating her at the police station, the police released Ms. Liu on bail. They claimed that they would have sent her to a detention center if it were not for her young granddaughter who needed her care.
The police submitted the case to the Linshu County Procuratorate on April 10, 2025 and summoned her for interrogation in mid-May. She was ordered to reveal the source of her Falun Gong books and informational materials. The procuratorate deposed her and her husband on August 12 and forced her to sign her indictment.
Ms. Liu attended her trial at the Linshu County Court alone on August 25, 2025. When her verdict was announced at the end of the hearing, she was so shocked that she fainted. After one or two days of hospitalization, she was put in the Linyi City Detention Center to start serving time.
