(Minghui.org) Practitioners held a rally and did the Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) exercises on Commercial Bay Square on November 15, 2025. They wished to tell people about Falun Dafa and raise awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) persecution. Barry Wilson, former chair of the Auckland Council for Civil Liberties, and human rights lawyer Kerry Gore, addressed the rally. They called on the New Zealand Government, international organizations, and all circles of society to pay attention to the CCP’s persecution.

Many people stopped to watch, and they signed a petition calling an end to the persecution.

The CCP’s Forced Organ Harvesting Is Ongoing

Barry Wilson, former chair of the Auckland Council for Civil Liberties, addresses the rally.

Barry Wilson, former chair of the Auckland Council for Civil Liberties, expressed his support for practitioners’ efforts to tell people about the CCP’s human rights abuses. He called on the international community to pay attention to the CCP’s decades-long persecution.

He first expressed admiration for practitioners by saying that they continued raising awareness of how the CCP illegally detains, tortures, and conducts the state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. He said practitioners’ persistence is precious.

He pointed out that the China Tribunal in London in 2018 consisted of several international lawyers and experts and investigated the allegation of the CCP’s forced organ harvesting. The China Tribunal concluded that the CCP has committed this cruel and evil crime.

Mr. Wilson pointed out that the CCP commits human rights violations, including the systemic persecution of Uyghurs, Tibetans, Falun Gong practitioners, household churches, and human rights lawyers. He said that the CCP’s recent repression of Hong Kong is a continuation of its attacks on human rights and freedom.

He expressed his admiration for Falun Gong practitioners and commended them for raising awareness of the persecution and speaking out for the victims in China.

Calling on the International Community to Help Stop the CCP’s Persecution

Human rights lawyer Kerry Gore addressed the rally.

Human rights lawyer Kerry Gore addressed the rally and condemned the CCP’s 26-year-long persecution. He called on the international community to take action.

“For 26 years, the Chinese Communist Party has carried out a brutal, systematic persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. This campaign has been relentless and merciless. Documented abuses include unlawful arrests, arbitrary detention, coercive ‘re-education’ programs, indoctrination, pressure to renounce one’s beliefs, and both physical and psychological torture. Countless practitioners have been subjected to forced labor under slave-like conditions, driven to destitution to escape harassment, and, according to numerous independent investigations, victimized by state-sanctioned organ harvesting,” he said.

He continued, “These reports come from respected and independent organizations such as Human Rights Watch, Freedom House, the United Nations Special Rapporteurs, Amnesty International, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, and the Congressional-Executive Commission on China. Their findings paint a deeply troubling picture—a picture the world cannot afford to ignore.

“Yet, despite this overwhelming oppression, Falun Gong practitioners in China continue to risk everything to speak the truth. They work tirelessly and courageously to inform their fellow citizens about the reality of the persecution and the nature of the regime carrying it out. Their bravery, shown in the face of intimidation, violence, and even the threat of death, deserves our profound respect.”

Lawyer Gore called for action, “So the question is no longer whether we should act—it is how we will act. I urge everyone to contact their local Member of Parliament and voice your concern. Demand meaningful action. Advocate for Magnitsky-style legislation to hold accountable those responsible for human rights abuses. Support laws that criminalize transplant tourism and penalize those who facilitate or profit from these atrocities.

“Silence enables oppression. By raising our voices, by pressing for concrete measures, we can help protect those who continue to suffer—and move one step closer to ending this persecution.”

He learned the exercises while he was in Colombia, “We got up at 3 a.m. every day and did the exercises. I still remember the movements even though I learned them years ago.”
