76-Year-Old Liaoning Woman Harassed Multiple Times in Two Months for Practicing Falun Gong

Nov. 20, 2025 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Suzhen, 76, who lives in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, was harassed several times in October and November 2025 because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Chen had a stroke more than two decades ago. After she took up Falun Gong, she no longer needed medical care. Her simple act of pursuing a healthy life however was met with repeated harassment from police in recent months.

Around 5:40 p.m. on October 23, 2025, numerous police officers arrived at Ms. Chen’s home in a SWAT vehicle and in several private cars. They included SWAT officers, plainclothes police officers, and uniformed auxiliary officers. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books (about 50-60) and hundreds of calendars which had information about Falun Gong. They also turned on their bodycams during the raid.

Around 7 p.m., the police received instructions to harass another local Falun Gong practitioner. While most left, the chief of the Xijie Police Station, auxiliary officer Wei Jia, and the local street committee director, stayed behind. Wei carried Ms. Chen on her back to a so-called inspection team (location unknown) to photograph her.

After Wei took Ms. Chen back, her husband insisted that Wei sign a slip to say that she took Ms. Wei away just after 8 p.m. and brought her back after 9 p.m. Wei did and the police chief said that no civilians ever made police sign something like that.

The harassment caused Ms. Chen to lose sleep that night. While she was still resting in bed on the morning of October 24, 2025, three officers (one man and two women) from the Xijie Police Station suddenly broke in and forced her to sign her case file.

About three days later, Ms. Chen’s friend offered to take care of her for a while. While she was living in the friend’s home, the friend was monitored by uniformed officers and people hired to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The friend noticed suspicious cars outside her apartment building and they followed her when she went grocery shopping or did other errands. Once she had to go to the hospital and a person who was monitoring even followed her into the restroom. Her phone was also tapped and those monitors whipped out their phones to take pictures of her. She continued to be monitored even after she returned to her own home.

Three officers from the Xijie Police Station pounded on Ms. Chen’s door and windows around 3 p.m. on November 9, 2025. She did not let them in as her husband, in his 80s who had heart stents, could not handle any more police harassment.

Just after 2 p.m. on November 11, 2025, another friend of Ms. Chen’s visited her. After he walked out of her home, he caught a man in his 40s or 50s and wearing military fatigue prying open the trunk on his electric bike. He stopped the man, who then sped away in a white car.
