I began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. I’m 62, but I live in the countryside and I never went to school. I’ve practiced for 29 years, and I always wanted to submit an experience-sharing article. I tried repeatedly, but due to my limited education, it wasn’t easy and I always gave up.
When I saw the notice for the 22nd China Fa Conference on Minghui.org, I became anxious. I hardly knew how to read, but Master Li (Falun Dafa’s founder) gave me the wisdom to read the Fa (teachings), and other practitioners’ experience sharing articles on Minghui.org. I also produced informational materials about Falun Dafa. I decided to write an article, so I asked Master for help.
Seeing my sincere wish, Master gave me wisdom. If I didn’t know the character for a certain word, I used another character with the same pronunciation. I didn’t know how to organize an article, so I just wrote about my experiences. I was happy when I finished—someone like me who never went to school was able to write about my experiences.
However, when I showed my draft to another practitioner she said, “This article needs work and has some typos. But between the lines, one can see your faith in Master and Dafa, as well as your kindness.” She helped me revise it and we submitted it to Minghui.org.
I would like to thank Master Li for everything. I also want to thank that practitioner for helping me finish this article.
Before we moved from the countryside to the city in 2000, we had little land and made hardly any money. After we moved to the city, I collected garbage to make a living.
Other people think my life is difficult, but I’m happy. Many people who are wealthier than me don’t enjoy good health and they’re unhappy. Thanks to Master and Falun Dafa, I have both. That is why I’m so grateful and why I want to tell others about Dafa.
Some people suggested I get a job as a waiter or a caregiver. After thinking it over, I still choose to collect garbage. My schedule is flexible, and I can meet more people and tell them about Falun Dafa or give them materials. Plus, I can also put up banners about Dafa. I think this is the best choice for me.
When I first moved to this city, I didn’t know anyone, not even other practitioners. I was very worried and had to go back to my hometown to get Dafa materials until Master arranged for me to meet a practitioner who drives a bus. He makes sure I have materials. I’m grateful to Master.
I don’t overthink things much, because my focus is on helping more people know the facts about the persecution. I’m not concerned about money. I always carry Dafa materials with me wherever I go. I tell people the facts, help them quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organizations, and give them materials. I’ve collected garbage for 10 years, so I don’t know how many people I have clarified the facts to. This is my path and I have to do it well.
In 2003, two people showed up at my door and came in without knocking. When I asked what they wanted, one of them replied, “We’re the police. Someone said there are Falun Dafa practitioners in your family.”
I smiled but I didn’t say anything. There was a pack of my husband’s cigarettes on the table, so I offered them some. I wasn’t afraid. The officers looked as though they forgot what they came for. We just chatted about some things and then they left.
My husband was home and their visit unnerved him. After they left he said. “It’s over. The police know you practice Falun Dafa. We need to move to avoid harassment.”
“No need,” I replied. “Master Li is taking care of us, and we’ll be fine.”
As a practitioner, I knew this could be a test due to my attachment of fear even though I do not acknowledge the persecution.
We did not move. One day, someone pounded on our door. My husband was frightened and asked me to open it, which I did. I saw a tall young man and asked what he wanted. He replied, “Nothing. I know you are good people, so I’d like to give you couplets to put on your door for the Chinese New Year.” I thanked him and said there was no need. But he insisted, so I accepted them and he left.
“Why he did he come here?” My husband asked. “He probably came here to do something bad.”
I reassured him, “Please don’t worry. He said we are good people and that’s why he gave us the couplets. I am a Dafa practitioner and need to treat everyone well. Master will protect us.”
I was able to get in touch with local practitioners in 2006. At that time, many practitioners had been arrested and we did not have a place for group Fa study. When a practitioner asked me they could us my place, I said, “No problem.” At first, about eight practitioners came. More joined later until there were over 20 of us. We also produced Dafa materials here, and everyone was happy.
After a practitioner was arrested in 2007 for handing out Falun Dafa materials, her home was ransacked. Because she was under intense pressure from the police, she led them to my place. But I was not home at the time. When I got home, my husband said, “The police said they would come back.”
“They won’t. They’ve been misled by the CCP’s lies. Master will protect us,” I said.
The police occasionally came to my place, but each time I wasn’t there. Because they were unable to arrest me, they were furious and took my husband, my daughter, my son-in-law, and my son to the police station one evening in March 2008. My husband wanted to warn me, so he called and said he was at the police station.
I quickly hid my Dafa books and materials. Then I went to another practitioner’s place and told her what had happened. We sent forth righteous thoughts. I didn’t hear anything by 11 a.m. the following day, so I checked with a relative and was told my family had returned home.
Everyone was frightened. Because the police often harassed us, we moved again.
After we moved to the new place, a practitioner asked me about having group study in my home. I said it would be no problem. This time the police did not bother us for two years.
In 2015, a practitioner left with Dafa materials after group study. The police arrested her as she was handing them out, and she led them to my place the next morning. As the police were knocking on our door, my husband and I were heading home on a tricycle.
It was a narrow alley, and the police were at our door right in front of us. “It’s over,” my husband said.
“No worries. We have Master helping us,” I said.
I asked Master for help while sending forth strong righteous thoughts. The police officers turned away and walked by on either side of the tricycle as if we simply were not there. I was so thankful to Master.
Several officers came again and pounded on the door. My husband trembled in fear. I asked my daughter to open the door, while I went to the bedroom to send righteous thoughts.
Four police officers came in, and I asked Master Li for help. The police officers just stood there, looking around, and then left.
Many things like this have happened through the years. I know Master and Dafa give me wisdom and that I’m protected. I am grateful to Master Li for his compassionate salvation and the opportunity for me to help him save people.
As a practitioner, I often remind myself what Master has said:
“When disciples have ample righteous thoughtsMaster has the power to turn the tide.” (“The Master-Disciple Bond,” Hong Yin II)
“As for you, disciples of Dafa, the closer it gets to the end the better you should walk your paths, seizing the day to cultivate yourselves well.”“You must study the Fa well, for that is the fundamental guarantee that you return to your position.” (“Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World, Volume XI)
Time is limited. Let us cherish all these opportunities and make the best use of our time. That way we will cultivate ourselves well and help Master save people. Thank you, Master.
