Mengyin County, Shandong Province: More Than Ten Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in One Day

(Minghui.org) More than ten Falun Gong practitioners in Mengyin County, Shandong Province were arrested on August 20, 2025, Minghui.org recently learned.

The arrests were ordered by the Shandong Provincial Public Security Bureau. The authorities monitored the practitioners’ cell phones for months before making the arrests. They dispatched nearly 30 police officers from other provinces to participate in the arrests. Each officer received the practitioners’ photos on their phones. They wore plainclothes and drove cars with non-police license plates when conducting the arrests.

Ms. Dai Zixin, 65, a retired employee of the Tanbu Town Middle School, was arrested by five officers hiding outside her home, when she was about to go out after 6 a.m. One officer flashed a search warrant and then raided her place. Three gourd ornaments with information about Falun Gong were confiscated. She was taken to the Mengcheng Police Station and released at around 7 p.m.

Mr. Gong Maomin, 70, and his wife, Ms. Liu Xinqi, 71, were arrested at home at around 7:30 a.m. Eight officers searched everywhere at their home, including the fire wood. The couple’s Falun Gong books, electronic reader, Bluetooth earbuds, more than ten small speakers, gourd ornaments, and 250 yuan paper currency with Falun Gong information printed on them, were confiscated. The police took the couple to the Mengcheng Police Station for interrogation. They were released at around 8 p.m. after paying a 10,000-yuan bond.

More than 20 officers broke into the home of Ms. Wang Mingfeng, around 74, between 7 and 8 a.m. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and a speaker. They next raided the home of 78-year-old Ms. Cao Changxiang, who lived in the same neighborhood. Ms. Cao’s over 50 Falun Gong books and a speaker were confiscated. Both women were forced to pay a 20,000-yuan bond each and released on bail in the evening.

Mr. Teng Defang was arrested at around noon. The police broke in and ransacked his place without a search warrant. His Falun Gong books were confiscated. He was released at around 10 p.m. The police didn’t return the books.

Ms. Zhang Rongqiu, 72, had her home broken into. The police searched everywhere without producing a proper warrant. Her Falun Gong books and magazines were confiscated. She was briefly detained at the Mengcheng Police Station and released on the same day, after paying a 1,000-yuan bond. The police refused to return her Falun Gong materials.

Ms. Li Ruiying, 57, was doing housework when the police broke in. She tried to call her child for help, but was stopped by the police. They confiscated a Falun Gong book from her and took her to the Mengcheng Police Station. She was released at around 3 p.m.

Ms. Zhao Yongjuan, a retired employee of the Mengyin County Agricultural Machinery Company, had her Falun Gong books and speaker confiscated during the home raid. She was forced to pay 10,000 in bond to the Mengyin County Police Department before being released on bail.

Mr. Song Bingkui, 70, was also arrested on August 20. He was released on the same day.

When the police went to 60-year-old Ms. Zhang Xia’s home, she was out, but her husband was home. The police raided the place and seized Ms. Zhang’s Falun Gong books and a speaker.

Mr. Du Xiangzhong, 60, found himself being followed when he was driving home at around 6 a.m. He turned around and went back to his construction work instead. The police went to his hometown in Gaozhuang Village, attempting to find him.

The police also attempted to arrest Ms. Zhang Xiurong, a 67-year-old retired employee of Mengyin County State-owned Cotton Mill, but she wasn’t home.
